Seems good to me, thanks OP. Nice basic set to upgrade my mom's situation, where she insists on using a 20 something inch ancient Sharp and sitting ridiculously close because she can't see anything.
This will surely be a revelation.
Rtings says it's fine but nothing special. Okay by me at $150 and our other TCL units have been excellent.
Also same price at Target [target.com]. Pretty good deal. Almost bought this last week when it was priced around $220.
No stupid he's not. I only own Tcl TVs and I've bought several for my family. They are by far the best budget tv out there.

Sounds like a good deal. I'm looking for something for my guest room for when my mother comes down.

wish I could settle for this price to inch ratio to replace a couple TVs... prices are just so bad right now.

Good price, but the old 1080p resolution is starting to show its age. I used to think the newer 4K was unnecessary, but unless you are viewing from a ways away, it is getting to be somewhat noticeable. I'd say this TV is ok for a secondary use, but you will want something better for a primary tv.
Agreed. Years ago, I never thought I'd be unsatisfied with 1080p, but you are right. Unless distant viewing, 1440 or higher seems like a must these days.

Good suggestion, but I doubt that anyone buys this 40" as their primary TV.

Been looking for a TV I could use outdoors for football season. Just pulled the trigger.

I think it has more to do with the better brightness and contrast of 4k TVs than the actual increased resolution, especially at 40""- 50" size.

My older 40" Sony BRAVIA, which was top of line back in the day, still looks amazing.

I recently picked up a Vizio 40", which is not nearly as nice as the BRAVIA, but fine for the basement game station I got it for- since the XBOX, PS4, ATGames Legends and Mini consoles output at 1080p/60 or 72Op/60.

Only if you have 4k sources.
