I think the 334 COVID deaths per a day is what some people are concerned about. Basically a 911 every 9 days... or as you put it "hypochondriac."

How well do these fit? Especially on the sides, do they make good contact with the face all around?

Found this video review [youtube.com] of these masks. Not surprised by any of the comments about the flimsiness or the appearance -- but what I didn't expect was for it to score only 93.9% on filtration efficiency.

That's close to N95 standard, but it fails.

When so many cheap masks score in the 97% to 99% range, it's actually kind of pathetic.

(Here's a practicaly/philosophical question: They say close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. Does it also count with masks if the mask is so comfortable that you're more likely to keep it on?)

Tl;Dr - get the 3m aura if you want the best full stop.

We had a pandemic baby and I went back to working in public areas in August 2020, so I didn't have the luxury of dicking around with haphazard equipment or staying home. I've been paying alot of attention to mask reviews and have tried on many. Absolutely could not afford to contract *anything* because of the baby.

From August until maybe Sept 2021 I wore the powecom kn95 with head loops from bonafidemasks. They were the cheapest for a legit decent mask if you buy in bulk (80 cents each?). Got 200 in each color. Straps have weak welds to the mask so they often broke. They also got "clogged"quickly, esp at the gym (good sign they're filtering?)

I went to n95s once the supply became more abundant. The difference in fit is palpable, as most all kns use the two-piece" tent" fold... Not ideal for talking.

The 3m aura 9205+ are the ones to beat for long term fit and seal. They're the only ones which 100% prevent glasses from fogging up. The rubber head loops may catch your hair if you keep it king, but at least it's rubber so it won't slip. You won't get it wet from your stuffy nose (!) and the chin has plenty of room for you to articulate while talking. These are my daily drivers now. Not the cheapest (1.20 each), but almost all of the actual MDs I know wear them (unlike most front office staff, which usually wear surgicals)

The Honeywell dc300, often used and given away at CVS, has the classic dome look of an industrial n95 but cheaper (and not "hard"). Very very tight headloops and the welds are as a result not strong enough... However, they are very "airy" and my mouth didn't feel as much of my own breath while talking. I use these at the gym now as the tighter loops benefit me while I get sweaty.

If you have a toddler, you got really limited options stateside. Most kids masks are 5+. There are many fabric masks but if you want the good stuff, you need to get KF94/KF80. MIIMA brand (called "no ear hurts" you on Amazon) kf80s are the best so far. They won't get wet from your toddlers spit as they tent out sufficiently...and the ear loops aren't a string so they don't hurt! They do cost $1.50 each... Ugh. Cocomong kf94s did not stay on for long and got wet quickly.

As for these...
These duck ones have not been popular around me in NY. No MDs, no workers, and no normal people have been wearing them. I've seen one person wearing it in 2.5 yrs (a shopper in supermarket).
