Have this. I don't love it. The pole that make these rounded door broke during the first setup. It takes pretty long to set up. Almost an hour for one person. Our friends had the coleman instant one and had theirs up in 4 minutes.

This price is just ok really. If you need one now, it is fine. If you have time, wait for an 8 person instant tent to hit not much more than this. Waaay nicer being able to set it up in 5 minutes by yourself vs this likely 30 min with 2 people, possibly leading to divorce.

I've done enough car camping trips with multi day storms that I don't want anything that doesn't offer a full rain fly. NTK makes well made tents. More waterproof than most plus a full rain fly. Plenty of tie downs and stake loops to ensure your tent isn't going anywhere except home when vacation is over. The NTK Cherokee GT 8 person tent is 175 at Amazon and will last longer than this one.

Exact same tent first camping trip using the tent was alone and had stitches in one finger, got it up in about 15min. Much less once I did it a few more trips and had two hands, even faster with help though not much as two doesn't change much. If you set up the door and closet it will take another 5-10 but those aren't necessary for a short trip.

I have this exact tent and it has performed great for my family of 6. Last camping trip, it rained almost the entire weekend. We stayed dry even with a couple of my kids sleeping directly on the ground. Setup isn't bad for this size of tent. It took about 15 minutes to set up. The "closet" on this is dumb but my kids used it as a changing room. This tent is a great value for the occasional car camper.

Never heard of NTK. Looks to be a PO Box company in Florida selling cheapo tents and other gear.

An hour? Were you drunk? I just watched two videos and it looks like a 15 minute or less setup. At this price and with Coleman's warranty reputation, I'm in.

Wait so is it taking an hour or 15 minutes. Saw 2 comments said an hour and two said 15 minutes. Was gonna bite but didn't because of the 1 hour set up

Have this tent and recommend. The first setup took me and my son about 25-30 minutes to setup. Subsequent setups only about 10 minutes.

No issues with leaks or tears.

We'd gladly own a tent that is not quite as quick to set up… in exchange for durability and rainproofness. And we've generally had good luck with non-entry level Coleman tents. Their large tent "hinged"/framed doors are game-changers for several day camping.

However after reading the 1 and 2 star reviews (21% of total ratings!) we will pass on this deal. Even though our 10 year old, large, heavily used Coleman tent is on its last legs. Pole durability seems to be a problem on this deal's tent. Was this tent model discontinued?

Unless its FB Market Place you are not going to find a decent 8-Person Instant Tent sell below $200. I got this off craigslist for $80. Seen it sell for as low as $199.

Coleman 8-Person Instant Tent [amazon.com]

Since this tent has no mesh we have a 12k BTU AC setup on the back entry to cool the Tent. We tent camp at State Parks that have water and electric.

Friend has the CORE 12 Person Instant Cabin Tent, was able to close off the mesh with Harbor Freight tarp and velcro

I bought this tent last time it was on sale and have set up and pulled it down 4 times now. Probably takes about 15-20 min each time. If I could go back I'd probably spend the extra $50 to get an instant tent, otherwise this tent has been really great, it's just that nothing beats convenience when you're tired. Best feature about this tent is the carry case is a bit larger so you don't have to perfectly pack it to fit it in

At this time, instant tent is the only option one should consider. I see my neighbor struggling every year and it takes him about an hour to setup the tent along with wife. Our instant tent takes about 10 minutes max (after figuring out how to lay the tarp etc).

I've had this tent for about 5 years and we love it. Great build quality and plenty of ventilation. Not to mention the closet and D-ring door are kind of cool. If you know it's not going to rain, I love the mesh roof so I can fall asleep watching the stars with the kids. However, this tent is not super quick to put up. I do it by myself in about 20 minutes. Somebody on here mentioned it took an hour. Not sure what he's smoking while he's putting it up, it's pretty basic. Great deal at $120. I'd rather have the instant 8 Coleman, but at $250 it's pricey.
