On sale at HD for a few days. I'm looking for an 80 gallon unfortunately but this seems like a solid price.

Good deal. I was looking at the 50 gal. For $30 more this seems like a no brainer. Just waiting on quotes from my plumber to install before I buy.

Not a bad price. I do wish they had the 65gal in more stores near me. Would love to use a 15% off coupon.

My plumber quoted me $500 to replace an existing 50 gallon electric unit. I'm planning to buy this and hope it stays $500. Looks like it's only 3 inches taller and two inches wider.

One possible way to get the "net" cost lower is to research local electric utility company rebates. Mine offers 50% off up to $500 on heat pump water heaters. Must be 40 gallons or more.

Great deal. I happened to find it also while researching hybrid units.

Be aware though that HD told me that if I order this and then change my mind before it delivers, I cannot get a refund until the unit hits their store. Although not advertised as such on their website, they consider it a special order item given that HD does not store them in a warehouse and instead the unit ships directly from the manufacturer. Probably not a big problem for me as delivery appears to be a couple weeks out but I'm leery about mfr shipping delays causing me a financial delay.

Initially, HD quoted me $575 to swap out a 50 gallon electric unit. My plumber was still $75 less so I planned to use him instead.

Then as we further discussed my order, the rep told me that if HD installs the water heater, there would be no sales tax charged on the unit. That saves about $140 and made me reconsider. Just when I was about to give HD the go-ahead to do the installation, the rep re-checked and found that units over 50 gallons cost an additional $99 to install. So instead of saving $65 (500-575+140), it will cost $34 more (500-575+140-99). Decided to use my own guy and save a few bucks.

Very efficient. I know here in FL which has decent electric rates switching to a hybrid can save $200 / $300 a year.

Make sure to check for Local rebates. In the Northeast, Eversource offers a $750 instant rebate at time of purchase on these.

Home depot is now showing out of stock if anyone was still on the fence. I purchased it late Wed and it was supposed to arrive here late next week. Got a notification yesterday from freight carrier that it will be delivered today. Had it shipped to home. So that was faster than expected.

Where the heck are you guys at? In AZ and I've called half a dozen plumbers for what I thought would be a fairly simple install. $1k minimum for basic install without expansion tank. Although found one that says they usually sell the 80 gal hybrid with install for $2200, but don't have any stock and no idea when they would! Was ready to return this if they did.

I don't have a hot water heater at all. It is inside the boiler so it is a bit more involved in my case. My local electric co is offering $600 back on these. I ended up ordering the ProTerra 50 gal for around the same price as it had leak detection and auto shutoff.

I don't have an existing stand alone hot water heater, so mine is a much different job. The Home Depot provided company quoted me $5200 for everything. Absolutely insane.

I purchased two 50 gallon tanks last year for a house I purchased and moved into this year. Previous owner had two units from 1989 still in the house, a 40gallon and 50gallon unit. Those units each averaged about 30-33 kWh per day. They were costing me around $100 per month to run.

These two units average 6 kWh per day....combined. Less than $20 per month for a house with 2 adults and 4 kids. Hands down one of the best purchases I've ever made.
