depends on your use. My son got his 4GB MB Air in 7th grade and he's graduating High School this week. So that's 6 years on 4GB and its been fine for him. So take the whole RAM thing with a grain of salt, depending on what you are using it for.

We are going to get him a new one for college this fall.

I don't have a costco membership, but was able to get BB to PM this last time around. I know you don't get the warranty, but I get an extra year with the CC anyways.

Yeah that's not a "source", that's a rumor!

Fall 2022 is not an unreasonable expectation for a new MacBook Air. But there's a chance it could still have an M1 chip in it, and just have a modified chassis (12" Retina MacBook, anyone??).

All of the macbooks now have unupgradable memory now and the 16gb usually aren't in stock most places.


Check appleinsider.com - their buyers guide frequently. It'll show the stock when you have to pull the trigger.

We haven't been able to upgrade RAM in MacBooks in 10+ years, and haven't been able to upgrade SSDs on Airs since 2017.
