That's how the big boys do it. Plus if you actually do the math, this card pays you each year because of the yearly point bonus.
I had been rejected for a couple of years with great credit but recently checked back in using their pre qualify tool that doesn't run a credit check. When it said I would qualify for the Venture I applied and was accepted. Not sure what changed. My score was about the same.
