Is it only hotels that you can use it on or can you use it on flights as well? When I've tried to book anything through the portal before it was more expensive and price matching sounds like a pain.
Yeah, this type of thing is one thing that makes me question the value of the Venture X for me. I get that you get a $300 credit annually but it's not simple to get the $300 value out of it.
I'm not the most experienced flyer and I made the mistake of using C1 site to book flights on Breeze to New Orleans earlier this year. I wanted to use up the last C1 miles I had. I'd never flown Breeze before and only later figured out that C1 doesn't have the same options that Breeze has on their site so I ended up paying a little more for crapier seats with no wifi access. Glad it was only a 2hr flight.
Probably not if it was just a year ago but I have another C1 card that I also got a $750k bonus on. It's a business card though.

$2000, which was also a joke when compared to my other cards. Just annoying that I'm getting pretty close each month.
If you don't mind the extra inquiry, it might be worth applying for the VX. I seem to recall it had a minimum 10k or 20k CL, but I forget where I heard that. There is a dedicated preapproval tool for VX, but you'll have to google it because I don't have the link.

I'll probably keep this one for a bit before considering the X. I have a pretty high credit score so it definitely wasn't that. I just need to learn how to use the promo rewards now.
