Bigger bonuses. Then once it's time to renew, you downgrade to a no annual fee card.

No matter whatever card you get from them, Cap One is wasted credit inquiries. They like to pull ALL three bureaus. Most other cards only pull one. Nothing Cap One offers is worth 3 inquires on your reports.
Cancel after one year. So effectively a $650 bonus.
Show me a no annual fee card with a ~$650 bonus... I'll wait.

Below is what makes no sense for many people. Airfares are usually cheaper when booked through websites or travel agents than booking it through Travel Portals offered by banks and Credit Card companies.
I had BOfA travel rewards and I just requested them to offer me a better product.

Well you can always transfer points to airline partners.
I have great credit and pay my bills in full each month, and no other current Capital One products. They turned me down - but offered a crappy alternate card with no sign-up bonus which I declined - and added a hard inquiry to my credit report. I read elsewhere that they seem to want customers who have just good credit who are likely to carry a balance. So if you have great credit, beware on this one. Waste of a credit pull for nothing.

Yep agreed. I got denied for this one and I have excellent credit.
Was approved for Venture X instantly with 30k limit. Score average 830s. The pre-approval tool showed I was pre-approved for the regular Venture card and most people's experience so far has been that if you are pre-approved for the regular Venture card, you'll get approved for Venture X as well.
Hope thus helps people planning to apply for either Venture or Venture X. Use the Cap1 pre-approval tool before applying if you don't want to waste an inquiry.
Did the pre-approval and eventually for venture. Was contemplating between this vs chase sapphire preferred. Went over with this due to flat 2X points on everyday purchases.
So regret transferring miles to Air Canada Aero. Air Canada Aero points are hard to use. No availability at all. The bigger problem is the fees! If you redeem the points, they add A LOT OF fees there!
I am not talking about fuel surcharge, I am talking about Air Canada redemption fees!

You should do a research first and make sure there's availability before transferring.
