Bigger bonuses. Then once it's time to renew, you downgrade to a no annual fee card.

No matter whatever card you get from them, Cap One is wasted credit inquiries. They like to pull ALL three bureaus. Most other cards only pull one. Nothing Cap One offers is worth 3 inquires on your reports.
Cancel after one year. So effectively a $650 bonus.
Show me a no annual fee card with a ~$650 bonus... I'll wait.

BTW, forget about getting and using a virtual card number while your new card is being shipped. I've called them twice and the only way to activate virtual cards is having the 3 digit CCV found ONLY on the card.

That's odd, I was able to use the virtual card right after I was accepted.
Do you already have a Capital Over credit card and an online account to login?

You just had to go through the post in previous 2 pages. You absolutely can use virtual CC as soon as you are approved. I booked flight tickets worth 8k on the same day my card was approved.

Download the app—> login—> click on get my virtual card on the landing page. It will give you a 16 digit card along with expiration and CCV. You probably talked to someone who had no idea what to do TBH.

While I agree with you, and I was able to use the virtual card right after I got approved, if you don't already have a CapitalOne online account (from having another CC), you might not be able to create an account to get the virtual CC.

So what is the best way to use this offer along with benefits? We're planning a vacation soon across the Atlantic.
Sign up bonus won't be posted until after 1-2 billing cycles after $4k spent. Does it make sense to book hotel/etc travel related for the trip on this card (with $400 reimbursable) before the points post? And then use the points for airline tickets perhaps?

Not true. Upon approval, I created an online account. Accessed virtual CC in like 30-40 mins, made purchase

Thanks for clearing that up. I already had an online account, I was just speculating why some people are not able to use the virtual card right away.

My Dallas Maverick season ticket is up for renewal, That will get me 80% of the way to 75K points! Too bad there is no intro 0%APR on this. Went with the X card, as least for the first year, really want to travel more this year. Got approved Smilie

I ended up reviewing this offer of the Elevated venture x card compared to the chase sapphire preferred one (60k pts $550 annual fee, $300 travel credit and 50% more on travel points for chase vs CapOne 75k pts, $395 annual, $300 travel and no bonus outside 10x regular).

Ended up going with chase due to the overall value of being able to transfer points to partners at increased exchange rates (similar to amex, chase has mote partners than capone's 11 total) and the rate of redemption (points guy values) are what swayed me. 75k point offer is very good though in its own right.

Login to your account, click on the new credit card, scroll down to where it says Balance Transfers, Account Details etc, the last option is Virtual Card. If you reach "Earn Credits For Shipping", you went too far.

Meh. I guess you must have another credit card from them already. I only had checking account before submitting for this offer. It's OK. I'll wait.

Thank you for your reply though.

True, but if something goes wrong with the flight, or you need to make a change, each company will tell you that you need to deal with the other.
It's not worth it, in my opinion. You will still get 2 x the miles/points using the credit card on the airline's site.

Exactly this. Been going back and forth with them since November when my flight was canceled after boarding due to plane malfunction. Capital One Travel booked it through KLM and the flight was operated by Virgin. They all blame each other meanwhile I'm the one who hasn't been refunded and was stuck paying 10x for a last minute replacement flight.
