Bigger bonuses. Then once it's time to renew, you downgrade to a no annual fee card.

No matter whatever card you get from them, Cap One is wasted credit inquiries. They like to pull ALL three bureaus. Most other cards only pull one. Nothing Cap One offers is worth 3 inquires on your reports.
Cancel after one year. So effectively a $650 bonus.
Show me a no annual fee card with a ~$650 bonus... I'll wait.

Applied for and was approved yesterday. Initially I did a pre-approval on their website and was shot down. Since this pre-approval doesn't impact credit scores, I assumed it was a soft pull. The denial letter indicated it was not approved because my accounts were all frozen. After I unfroze my credit accounts the approval was instant.
I'm thinking about getting this card. If I don't travel very much is it worth it to get the X? most of my spending is on food. I spent $7k on travel last year.
Capital one denied my venture application even though I have 800+ score and 1-2% credit utilization at the moment. lol.. so strange. Was looking for a new travel card. Oh well. What's weird the inquiry didn't show up on my credit reports.
Capital one loves poor people and lower credit score so they could earn interest money from.
I would say this is true with all banks. Since I have an 810+ FICO, no debt, and few credit cards I would also say they will take other people!
Yes they all love interest money, but all banks would not deny you if you have great profile, well except capital 1. The only bank denied me out of 7 banks i bank with.

If you don't travel then the annual fee won't be offset by the travel credits, so not really. Get another card for cash back if you don't travel.
They're crooked. I applied for this on late 2021. At the time they said that the Denver lounge would open in 2022, and the Priority Pass membership included restaurants. Come December 2022, the lounge wasn't open and the restaurant benefit was removed from the card. I believe that they were lying all along, never intending to open the promised lounges in 2022 and always intending to remove the restaurant benefit from Priority Pass. I cancelled, of course, because the card now provided no added value over my Amex Platinum.

What were the reasons in the letter they sent for the denial? It's not all about credit score like many people think. I have excellent credit with some high-end travel cards but that's why I went the route of a preapproval first because I know some banks can be picky. Barclays is the same way, and it can be difficult getting a card from them.
Denied. I'm going to cancel my existing Capital One card.
I have an 840 credit score and no debt, so if I didn't get approved, who are they targeting with this credit card? Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos? 😂
That's bullshit. I have a 815 score and got approved late last year. Maybe because I have had a checking account with them for years? I only use it for a little savings but not for daily use.

I got it for booking my plan to Switzerland and I already got my $300 credit, Priority Pass membership and enough points to book my trip to Mexico in December basically for free. So it's worth it so far.
