Bigger bonuses. Then once it's time to renew, you downgrade to a no annual fee card.

No matter whatever card you get from them, Cap One is wasted credit inquiries. They like to pull ALL three bureaus. Most other cards only pull one. Nothing Cap One offers is worth 3 inquires on your reports.
Cancel after one year. So effectively a $650 bonus.
Show me a no annual fee card with a ~$650 bonus... I'll wait.

Be aware. If you plan to get points and transfer to airlines, their choices are limited. No major U.S airlines. Miles of other airlines are hard to use. I so regret getting this.
Delta, American, Alaska, and United are all part of one of the 3 major alliances, so you can use these points to get flights on all em....sometimes cheaper than booking directly with the airline (thanks to various sweet spots in partner award charts- like AA domestic short haul, or transcon in United for example)

You need to know how to use points in partner airlines. British Airways is a partner of AA. AF/KLM for Delta. You can book domestic tickets at partner airlines if you transfer points to them. I have done this multiple times in the past to book domestic AA tickets using BA avios
Hi Quick question. Can I redeem points for cash? I mean not using the points for anything else, just need credit to the account. Is that possible?
This is not a card for straight cash back. If you want a pure cash back card, look somewhere else. I would suggest Citi Double Cashback card for your need.

Only when redeemed for travel expenses paid for with the card or booked through the portal.
Does the travel portal do standalone rental car reservations?
I want to use the Venture X for work travel expenses, but my employer requires the use of their travel portal/agency for air and hotel expenses. I'm not sure how I could take advantage of the $300 travel credit. I can probably get car rentals under the radar.
Thinking of applying for the Venture X card, but leaving on a 4 week business trip in 3 days.
Would Capital One be willing to send me the new or replacement card to a hotel in SE Asia? I could meet my 4K spending requirement in the first 30 days.
Otherwise, I will just wait and apply before my next trip. I plan to use this almost exclusively for work travel expenses.
Yes, but not at as good a rate as other credit cards. If I recall, I saw a $100 gift card to Amazon for about 12,500 points or around there. I ended up trading in around 10,000 points for $100 gift card to gap/old navy, which is more on part with other credit cards where 10k points = $100.
I have a big charge coming up - which cards can give instant approval and card number without the multi-wk processing time?
Amex platinum gave almost instant approval as I got the card within a couple of days. After you apply, AMEX let's you know and sends the card via fed ex or ups 2 day service.
