How much is access to the lounges with just the venture card? I am going to be flying through DFW in a couple of weeks and thought I might check out the lounge there.

Do I have to pay $95 annual fee right after I get approval or it will be charged after I received the physical card AND activate it?

I found a trick to get cash back at 1% redemption value. Not that I'd recommend you doing it purposely, but it worked for me. I booked an airbnb and then used the "cover travel purchases" feature and got a travel credit for the amount in my account. Then I cancelled the airbnb and got the money back as credit to my account. I can't remember if I just used the card or if they sent me a check, but they never turned it back into miles, which I thought they might.

I end up applying for Venture X. The annual fee is $395, but the travel credit is $300, plus there will be Capital One lounges and Priority Pass lounges with myself and 2 guest. It's a great replacement for my expensive Chase Sapphire Reserve with $550 annual fee!

Despite the wisdom of @AnalogKid2112 - suggesting not to apply as these are wasted inquiries. I still applied. I thought, maybe Cap1 has improved, maybe my credit score is so high that Cap1 would cave in. Maybe AnalogKid2112 was just entirely wrong.

I unlocked all 3 bureau's. Waited the hour. Then denied. Adverse Action letter said too many credit lines, and to shove my 836 score you know where. Ok, maybe the last part wasn't in writing. Indeed wasted inquiries. Calling the recon line, all those ding dongs can do is read a disclosure and re-pull all the bureau's again. No discussion, no negotiation, no attempt at counteroffer (ie: close a tradeline), just reading off scripts.

If you already got a bonus a few years ago for the Venture card and then cancelled it, can you get it again? Or is this a once in a lifetime deal?

I have a similar credit score and because of that, I could care less about a few dings on the number. As long as you're above 800, no lender that I've heard of is going to turn you down based on credit score. C1 is just doing business as they see fit. No need to take it personally...

That's interesting. The Spark cards aren't restricted by that rule and at least when I got mine (early Dec) the offer was about the same as the Venture: $750 worth of points with a $6k spend in 3 months. Plus, I don't believe there is an annual fee. I have the Spark Business card... not sure if that makes a difference but other than the travel perks, the Spark Business seems like a better offer.

Getting the card wasn't super quick and they told me they wouldn't expedite it. However, if you put the C1 app on your phone, you can create a virtual card and use it online before you get the physical card.


I *think* points can transfer between C1 cards but not sure if miles transfer as full value points.
