Easily upgradable 2 slots one with 8GB so one 8GB stick and you have 16GB.
Full specs
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c07905318
Upgrade specific:
https://www.memorystock.com/memor...053cl.html

This processor if faster than 10 gen I5's.

It lacks USB C charging and only has HDMI 1.4 so no 4k @ 60hz. You can do 4k@30hz.
But for this price you should not expect better.

The HP 1125g4 I bought was easily taken out of S mode. I highly suggest you do that unless you do not download many apps.
Yes, that little quad core i3 is not like i3's your grandma used.
I have this laptop....got it from Costco 3 months ago for 380....nice laptop...has backlit keyboard but the keys are silver so does not show up that well with such light colored keys...I wish it had dark gray keyboard, but it is tolerable.....has fingerprint reader that works well...I upgraded it to 16gb ram from Crucial....fan runs quite a bit I have noticed...that would be the only real downside...I thought upgrading to 16gb ram would make the fan run less....I was wrong... when it is laying flat on my bed at night it gets warm/hot underneath....has very good up-firing speakers at the top of the keyboard....for 350 it is a good choice.

If I add 8 gb of RAM would this be ok for grad school? I'm thinking mainly lots of reading, writing and taking tests on camera?
I doubt you would even need to upgrade the RAM

If you want to save $70 and are ok with 4GB ram and 128GB SSD then check this out: https://www.walmart.com/ip/HP-14-.../270583648 (Same HP form factor with Ryzen 3 3250U 2.6-3.5GHz, 1080P, WIN11)

I bought this 3.2lbs little laptop for word processing/light multitasking and found it is plenty fast on Windows 11 even with just the included 4GB DDR4 and dual-core (4 threads) Ryzen 3.

PS. You can take it out of S Mode to normal Windows 11 with 2-clicks
This is a much worse system, not worth the $70 savings. The CPU especially is a huge downgrade. This i3 is almost an i5: it's quad core 8 thread.

I was at Costco today to buy this but noticed that the keyboard on the display item, was wobbly and changed my mind. Any current owners see that problem?

The refurbished Acer Aspire looks like a better deal. it's i5 versus i3 and though refubished, comes with a two-year waranty

You can just open it up and put some foam behind it if you want. It's cheap plastic, $350 you get what you paid for

I bought this one and had an issue that maybe you can weigh in on? I had a Vudu streaming movie on pause then I picked up the laptop to go upstairs (while the kids was open) and the movie comes off pause and starts playing. It seems the pressure on the corner of the frame actually clicks the mouse trackpad. Has anyone experienced

Unfortunately, no power or display options on this older USB-C port. I was also wondering if this model has HP fast charging through the standard AC barrel charger like some of the other sub $350 HP laptops have?
