All DeWalt battery operated tools are Max.

The Atomic is Max. The XR is Max. They're all Max.

Max* simply refers to them using the fully charged voltage (20v) as opposed to the operating voltage (18v) that other tool companies use.

Somewhere in the fine print it says:
* Maximum initial battery voltage (measured without a workload) is 20 volts. Nominal voltage is 18.

if you have two batteries, and keep one charging while using the rest, you can probably get through most home projects without a lot of stress or anger

I just do small around the house stuff occasionally, like mount something on the wall or hang a picture, etc. I usually borrow my sister's drill, so going to buy this for my first drill so I can stop borrowing, thanks OP. Laugh

I was looking at the Atomic as well, but this weighs half as much it looks like, and I think it will be more than fine for casual, around the house stuff.
