Dang it, I don't live near a sams club.

I bought the 10,000 for 409, but it has an odd compressor tick. Company said to just return it. I need a quiet unit for my office, and when this unit isn't in the one mode that has a low tick it is very quiet, and the bracket it comes with for installation is really nice.

The 12k is overkill, for my small office, but for this price if I lived close to a sams club I'd get a membership just for this unit.

Yeah, that's what I thought, I think this is the second sale I've seen in the last week or two.

Beside this tick(which I'm irritated about having to pull it out and return and buy another, thought their support would have had a better solution) it really is a nice, pretty quiet unit.

Small part of me is thinking about going the mini-split route if I can find a sale on one the energy company gives a rebate for, which it doesn't seem like those ones go on sale.

My local stores only stick the 8k, 10k and 25k units. None are the U shaped style.
I would like to replace my current 12k. It won't fit in the window we would like it in.

Is there anything special about U-shape ACs? Do they install in standard double hung windows easy or do they have a special use case?

Generally more efficient and more quiet due to inverter and more window blocking out noise.

Just installed mines yesterday easily! Very quiet and I like how you can still open your window on non AC days.

After seeing the "upside-down" U design by a competitor, I feel this design is obsolete in comparison. It's too bad the competitor doesn't have a 12k btu version, or I'd have one.
I considered that one when researching a new window AC that wasn't obnoxiously loud. The one thing that swayed me against it is that apparently condensation in the front section has no where to go except your floor! The Midea one has a flat bottom so it can flow back and out the window.

Installation was a pain for us that took a bit of time but we got it done. It's significantly quieter than a normal window AC - much easier to do work calls!

How big is that U gap? It looks like you would need a home with almost no interior or exterior sill to make it work. Even then, you need to have pretty thin walls it appears. I think that basically kills it for brick homes unless they have 0 insulation and thin drywall instead of the old plaster with mesh. I know there are other heating solutions, but if you have traditional radiators they take up the area directly below your windows for almost the entire width of the window making the upside down U impossible to install.

If the the upside down U works for you, great, but I feel the price is going to always be higher due to making less because they know it won't fit all homes. I am of course just guessing, but they don't make a 12k btu one and that's probably for a reason.

Finally a deal I can jump on! I've been waiting for this to go on sale and I actually have a Sam's membership vs Costco. Ideally the 10k would've worked but the 12k would be even better!

Although now I'm just hoping it's at my Sam's because they don't always have the greatest selection of things...
