It runs in the family
Children of Morta sets its story in a distant land but copes with themes closer to our daily lives that one would expect. It is a story of simple emotions we all know so well and value more than sometimes we dare to admit: love and hope, longing and uncertainty, ultimately loss and sacrifice we are willing to make to save the ones we care the most for.
Embark on the adventure of an extraordinary family of heroes. With the Corruption spreading through the land, guardians of the Mountain Morta have to stand up against the ancient evil. But... it's not a story about saving the universe. It's a story about a valiant family standing together while the world around them is being devoured by darkness.
FEATURES:
- rogue-lite with a strong storyline
- 7 playable characters
- local co-op - play as two Bergsons together against the Corruption! Additional controller required. (Online co-op to be added in the future)
- emotional tale focused on a family of heroes
- a diverse set of skills
- passive and active items modifying each run
- multiple dungeons set in different biomes
- a rich world full of history and magic
- Family Trials - a mode separate from the Main Story campaign, offering new systems, items, objectives, character builds, and more - all set in a series of completely randomized dungeons.

FYI, this game tends to go on sale for this price every month or two. If you can't grab it now, keep an eye out on Deku Deals. It will pop up again.

From my understanding, the dlc only includes one extra character, which is a mortar style playstyle. I decided not to get it cause I already love the base characters and found some that suit my playstyle. The game is amazing. I loved it way more than I expected to. Definitely worth the price, so the discounted price is a no brainer.

The Ancient Spirits DLC is the biggest one you are paying for and that one has a handful of new abilities and it gives a new playable character. The new character can only be used in Family Trials mode, which is an endless dungeon mode similar to Hades. I got 15-20 hours out of this game and I never played Family Trials. I would recommend getting the base game and skipping the DLCs

They did add online co-op for steam a few months ago so they are still working on it
