I knew better but had a newborn at home and wanted something quick and easy to play games on. It was a very good deal and served its purpose for awhile. I still get tempted by prebuilts because of the GPU situation and still having young children and not much time.
I may be biased, but this is obviously a repost of a deal posted earlier this morning:

HP OMEN 30L Desktop: i7-11700K, 32GB RGB DDR4, 512GB SSD + 2TB HDD, RTX 3080 Ti $1799.99 + Free Ship...
I bought 2 30L with 3090s a couple months ago and instantly regretted it. Returned both because the thermals were horrible. The single 120mm radiator for the 5800x was not enough to cool the CPU. This 30L case only has 1 intake fan, which is abysmal to properly cool the entire system. HP also have sleep mode issues and will not sleep properly. I'd suggest going on to reddit Omen forum to read up on all the issues.

Got my nephew an Omen about 5 months back and he had constant issues with thermals, to the point the system was starting to throttle and "blue screen". The CPU cooling solution is hilariously small, with a tiny fan tasked with dumping the heat from the CPU on a water loop. We got the crashing to stop by undervolting the CPU, but you can only edit this temporarily via some shitty OEM app that looks like bloatware. Eventually just returned the thing to bestbuy(thank god I didnt buy it direct, HP is notoriously bad on customer service) and buying some CyberpowerPC thing off amazon.

You said you should pretty much NEVER buy a prebuilt when for close to two years prebuilts were practically the only way to get a GPU. That's all I'd take issue with, it comes across as amazingly out of touch with the past two years.
There's almost no reason to buy a prebuilt in the present if you have the knowledge to build one, GPUs are available everywhere now and we're talking about a "deal" in the present as I explained earlier. If you have severe time constraints or don't have the knowledge then yes buying a prebuilt makes sense; I did not say that it never makes sense at all. This website constantly posts terrible deals for affiliate money that make the front page; that's the issue I have with it. Trying to justify that this is a good deal is a huge stretch.

Case get way to hot, had to replace my 30L case! Plus you can not upgrade anything with the OMEN, the Bios is a joke and they almost force you to buy there Ram. Unless you are savy and jump thru some hoops.

If it happens, then demand for GPUs among cryptocurrency miners could seriously dampen, making it easier for consumers to buy a PC graphics card at normal prices.

Its more about profit margin than engineering imo. They will go with the cheapest alternative as long as the parts function within acceptable limits. If we're talking about thermals, you are likely to see something close to max limit rather than whatever's optimal.

I got a 30L from HP during the GPU shortage, my 3080 VRMs were running @ 104C. Its "functional" but probably not good for the chip nor the rest of your components in the case. If you plan to get this card, you'll need to be comfortable enough to do surgery on the GPU so you can add some aftermarket thermal padding.

Think I'm going to pull the trigger on this. A 3080ti still costs $1200 so I do t see how you could build this (with the 3080ti) any cheaper

Anyone knows what cpu cooler can replace the stock cooler that comes with these Omen 30L? A guide for upgrading this specific system would be appreciated. I don't know what cooler would fit and what would not and so on. Thanks. I have the the 5600x version and when running full load, the cpu fan runs at max seed like a jet engine just to keep the cpu not going past 90C.
If you want to fix your system, you buy a new case and part out the 30L.

The 30L is a trash design and cannot be a saved.

The 120mm AIO uses some garbage proprietary connections so toss it in the trash.

The motherboard is a regular micro atx and will fit in other cases though.

Word of warning. I have been replacing power supplies and motherboards in these Omen 30Ls the last 5 months.

The PSUs are under powered junk coolermaster supplies. 50/50 chance it will take out the motherboard too.

Google for the doubters
