Half the functions this one claims....are not.
If I don't know where the studs are, it is a strong chance that I will not know the depth of the wall.
All you really need is a basic finder. It is quiet until you get to a stud, where it lights up/beeps when over it. It goes quiet again when you are no longer over the stud.
If you cant determine where the stud is with that....perhaps you should put down the drill/hammer.
I came here to say the exact same thing. My dad has the electronic one and it'll beep and then not beep in the same place and I'll just break out mine and be done.
