No need to do what u said. Just spray fire paint once every year. Mine (bot 12 years ago from HD for 30 bucks) still looks quite good.
Also, keep an eye on outdoor home goods as the season ends. I read an article recently that said that Target, among others, way overbought outdoor home inventory expecting people to still be spending like during the height of the pandemic, but habits have shifted to travel and "experiences", so they are going to have a ton of stock left over at the end of the season. Couple that with all time high costs of warehouse space and analysts expect the big box stores to basically give away this stuff when it's time to move it off the floor.

Cast Iron item for $54???
I was surprised too, but the reviews do call the bowl cast iron. It's normally $69, FYI.

what is "fire paint" ? are you referring to rustoleum high heat?
that isn't meant for direct flame....
RTFM...fireproof paint, fire retardant paint or high heat 1200c paint. They are all same.

These things really don't last very long (expectedly)
You can prolong the short life by caring for it like a baby, washing it out after each use, fully drying it, and keeping it inside away from the elements. You'll maybe get a few yrs out of it that way
Mines 7 years old

I don't do shit. Just burn fires in it and I don't remove ash the ash makes a layer in bottom prevent future fires burning through

I cover it in winter tho

Are there practical uses for fire pits? Trying to figure out a reason to tell the wife
I use it to burn documents as I don't have a shredder.

I use it to burn sticks from my tree. I got a silver maple, and its MASSIVE. anyway branches and sticks fall daily. I just toss them in a wagon, and every month I make a small fire out of them.

Definitely true at target, they had all outdoor furniture and fire equipment 40% off yesterday.

Silver maples damage a lot of houses in Michigan. Best to destroy all young silver maples within 50 feet of your house. I know this from experience.

Would def get at $54, but not $69. Will wait for them to lower the piece again. Apparently they have 1470 in stock.

I really want a Chiminea fire pit. But they seem to be hard to find and are very expensive. This is nice in that it has the cover on top for any embers flying around.

It's now $69
