Yea, $5 more or less and was $4.28 last year.

If these were made in Germany that gave the quality associated with Bessey, then maybe this would be a decent deal.

Well, it is not the end of the world, but deception has always been a negative to me. Besides, I never liked those smooth wooden handles painted red that the Chinese seem to favor, nor the finicky bar to adjust. It locks by pivoting the screw end away from the project and a real pain to adjust unless you have three hands.

With most of the box store brands now being made in Asia, the recent 4pc DeWalt and Jorgensen F clamp kits with 2-6" and 2-12" for less than $20 have better handles. I bought several sets of the Jorgensen at Lowes post Christmas for $15 each.

PS: With 3 down votes, obviously someone did not like my post. Smilie

Yeah the quality is definitely down. Last time, I bought some bessey wood clamps I had to return a bunch since they were crooked and I didn't notice till i went home. Luckily I bought them at the home depot and the exchange was easy. I think bessey is still ok but the cheaper clamps I need to go to the store to pick the straight ones. I wonder if their more expensive clamps like parallel clamps are still good.

I was looking at their parallel clamps when picking up a couple of the made in Japan Irwin pull saws in Menards the other day. Although I could have a got a deal on them from the department manager, they have been laying on the bottom shelf mixed in with other brands and did not care for the alignment on the longer ones. Perhaps they had been stepped on by someone trying to reach for something higher, but I did not want to mess with them.

Parallel clamps are nice, but for any real clamping force, I still like pipe clamps that are only limited by the length of pipe that I pick up for scrap price. And for those, I do like the legs as on Bessey and others. Sure, you can splice parallel clamps like Bessey for a price, but most of mine have come from estate sells that were not used much. A lot of people buy stuff they will seldom, if ever use... including me. Smilie

Perhaps, but unless shill filler posts to create content, people need to learn to include links for a wanted response. I and many others are not chasing down and trying to figure out what they might be talking about.

I have 4 of these and I really hate them. The lower jaw often time just kept slipping when I tightened the handle. The wooden handle is skinny and slick making it difficult to apply a lot of clamping force. I recommend buying the Jorgensen or similar clamp with clutch plates in the lower jaw. It is more expensive but it works way better.

Depends on price point. Festool isn't although you're paying a premium for a painted Bessey clamp. Amazon.de is a good source for Bessey clamps still manufactured in Germany if you can get past the shipping cost (but no VAT, hurray)
