About 30 seconds of light rubbing and they look brand new
This is the way to go. What I would recommend specifically depends a lot on your personal needs. If you're cooking for one I might recommend smaller pieces than if you are cooking for a family. That being said, you can't go wrong with regular D3 Stainless, and I'd start with a sauce pan or saucier. 3 quarts is a very versatile size. Then a skillet (I prefer 12" but if you're cooking small qtys than maybe 10" could suffice). For stews, braises, and stovetop-to-oven dishes, a covered saute' pan is a versatile choice. And if you are on a budget, then start with those, and go with something cheap for your large pasta pot. Save your money and go with another brand that has a heavy bottom but isn't clad all the way up the sides. Someday you'll want an enameled cast iron dutch oven like a Le Creuset or Staub, but those are not cheap. I have a lot more advice on choosing All-Cad on this sticky thread that I created a while ago. Check it out.

Others have offered good tips on this. Once you learn to cook with and care for stainless, it's incredibly easy to maintain. Take the time to heat it properly and it can be practically nonstick, but even when you do scorch it, cleanup should be easy.

Outstanding advice. Don't fall prey to a cheap set that has the wrong pieces in the wrong sizes.
I thought so too until I learned to use baking soda. Clears them right up.

Curious about the countdown timer on the homepage, counting down to the big sale. So this isn't the big sale?

Anyway, In for an 8 quart stockpot with box damage for $169.95 shipped, which to me is an insanely high price. But then again I've been searching for an okayish stockpot for over a year now, so, yeah, maybe my price expectations are off. Don't know the difference between sd5 and bd5 lines except sd5 is cheaper, so, yeah, that's what I got. I hope these all-clad pots don't suck; I've been spoiled by cheaper, yet truly great cookware, made by demeyere, and it might be very hard to go back to regular cookware.

I only ever seem to find the non stick all clad pans at TJ's or other such stores. Never seen a discounted all clad tri play or better, yet people always recommend these places. May be location dependent.

Remember you can use the search function to bring up a lot of items that are not located on the sale page.

SD5 is the D5 line with a polished exterior finish, and BD5 is D5 with a brushed exterior finish.

Also, SD5 is a little more expensive in this case.

8-Qt. Stockpot / BD5 - Packaging Damage
$169.95 $445.00
You save $275.05 (62%)

8-QT Stockpot / SD5 - Packaging Damaging
$199.95 $405.00
You save $205.05 (51%)

Clad sucks to clean. I'm not a fan. Even the oil burns on it.

My advice is to buy a pan or two at a time, rather than one big while set. Try different kinds until you find what you like. The ones you like should last a long time if you take care of them. That's what my Chef buddy says
