it is all personal preference.
if you ask oral B, they claim their electric toothbrush is superior
if you ask Phillips, they claim their toothbrush is superior
some will like the round head shape of oral B (smaller), others will prefer the sonicare for the vibration to remove plaque
As a dentist, I can say that either one will work well when used correctly, even a manual toothbrush.

Anyone know why this newer model without charger claims 5x clean while the previous generation which included charger claimed 7x clean?

Maybe 5x when used on a slower speeds since newer model has 2 speeds vs 1? Just guessing.

I noticed that too when grabbing it from Amazon yesterday. Comments on there lead me to believe the new modal is a downgrade, even with cleaning. Not sure if that's true, but I grabbed what I presume is an older version because of it.

just did this, though they did not match the price after coupon code and matched the $30 price instead. ordered it through target anyways so i could get a diff color.

What sucks is that the charger is usb versus a normal plug. I hate to have to order another usb plug adapter just to use this.

Oral B is TERRIBLE. they use more of a mechanical action vs sonic, and the head is way bigger. It's harder to get your molars well IMO. I used one for years that my husband got free from a rep (he's a dentist) and once it died and I switched to sonicare it was like night and day.
