Never book through Expedia. Book through the airline. Google "Expedia Complaints." Even the BBB has an alert about Expedia. Of course since SD gets an affiliate fee, that's the incentive to recommend them.

Good advice for hotels and cars too. I always search with an aggregator, but check direct. Sometimes you get a better price or at the least, better cancellation terms etc. Or sometimes better cash back.

Expedia had a 24 cancellation policy. I called in to cancel the service. The rep in India couldn't get a hold of the merchant and refused to issue a refund.. Lesson learned!

I feel the same way. I just booked a trip to Hawaii a few days ago and picked premium seats so that I could pick where I sit and after I booked and paid it showed the seats were the cheapest that didn't let you pick seats and were last to board. I contacted them and they wouldn't help me and said it was my fault

Of course they did. It's the way they operate. Have an urgent or serious problem? They'll usually refer you to the airline and the airline will tell you that since you booked through a third party travel site, it's their responsibility. It's an endless cycle and it's the norm. With SlickDeals, they don't care about consumer protection or vendor reputation as long as they get that cash. Thumb them down every single time...."poor merchant reputation." Won't do any good because staff is hired to make money, not have ethics.

That is exactly what happened to me so I cancelled and booked through the airline

yup. that happened to me. i had over $7k on booked flights that i couldn't get it back nor use. so pissed!

agree with comments here. Booking a rental car is about the thing I might do thu Expedia, always best to book direct thru provider. Hotels and flights in particular

Except Costco... never had an issue with Costco Travel (car) and it's always been cheaper too...
