Also, I use SnagIt at work regularly and it is great for generating professional looking technical documents, how-to guides, and the like. Probably not worth it if you just want to send a screen grab to someone.

I see people recommending to just use the built in Windows Snip & Sketch, which I've run for years at home, but for $17 SnagIt is a massive upgrade that is absolutely worth it for the small amount of money. In terms of paying for upgrades, I honestly have not seen much of a jump in functionality between 2017 and 2021, so I think getting 2022 and hanging with it for a couple of years would be totally fine for 99% of users. It's way more than what you get with the built in Windows option, and if you want to do anything more than just grab a basic screenshot, it's a strong contender for your use case.
I've waited years to get my own personal copy, but seeing this deal today is finally the day I get to use it at home. Thanks OP, great find!
