Outstanding hiking shoe, but too hot (gortex lining) for hot weather hiking. They last about 3-years for normal everyday use and about 600-900 hiking miles. They are the best made shoe I have ever worn.

This model has great reviews, but it's being replaced by the Ultra 4, which has lower reviews.

These are rated well. This past winter, I needed a new pair of hiking boots that would work well in snow. I purchased 4 different pairs and ended up keeping these based on value (I paid $165) and fit/feel on foot. They performed great. For reference, the others that I tried: Arc'teryx Acrux TR GTX, Merrell thermo glacier mid, and Asolo Falcon GV.

I have these for backpacking with a 40lbs pack, I prefer my speedcross over these, they are grippy and light.

Good shoes. I wound up with merrells when I was shopping for hiking boots, but these were my very next pick, out of about 20 makes and models.

I own both, can't say I have a preference. My terex are a couple years old and have held up very well. Salomon are newer so can't comment on durability. Both are very comfortable and a great choice.

And right now REI is offering a $30 card for their $30 co-op membership which seems pretty good. When I signed up in the past they were only offering a $20 card.

I have owned my pair for 4 yrs and worn these shoes to hike the trail du mont-blanc, gr20 and other multi day hikes in June/July. They are excellent, but a little on the heavier side (but the weight contributes to their durability). I can't recommend them enough.

I have these and love them but prefer them for cooler, variable temps & rain/snow. They don't breathe well so aren't great for hot weather hiking IMO. They're a little heavy but provide excellent grip & stability when carrying weight.

Salomon's aren't the best summer boots/shoes. Your feet will get hot. I vastly prefer my Lowa boots. Lighter, breathe better and actually stay waterproof.
