I would not call "American Spirit" misleading marketing jargon. The watch is a classic American style.

It's important to remember that Hamilton was founded in Lancaster Pennsylvania in 1892.

Hamilton was an official supplier of timepieces to the US Armed Forces during WW1 and WW2.

A Hamilton aeronautical watch was also present on the first US Airmail service between New York and Washington DC.

Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig along with the rest of the NY Yankees were gifted Hamilton watches in 1928 for winning the World Series.

Elvis Presley wore a Hamilton Ventura.

Hamilton watches appeared in many American movies. Men in Black, Independence Day, Die Hard, Lethal Weapon 4, 2001: A Space Odyssey and The Frogmen.

They didn't relocate to Switzerland until 2003.

The"American Spirit" style pays homage to its heritage and rightfully so.

Just sayin....
People who enjoy the finer things in life and can afford it. Not people like you
I guess I'm one of those old guys who developed the habit of wearing a watch and looking at his wrist to see what time it is. And occasionally the date without it telling me my messages and heart rate and who has liked my latest tik tok post. Watches are probably more for people who care about what THEY are doing rather than seeing WHAT EVERYONE ELSE is doing.

I was able to get this watch for $685 on Ashford.com using one of their Flash Sale deals. Apparently, they expire within the hour. No coupon needed and none of the promo codes that I tried would stack on that price.

Free shipping and they are a Factory Authorized dealer.

That's cringe. No one cares about or even notices your watch besides other materialistic people you are trying to impress

This post only shows where your head is at. He didn't mention impressing other people or getting noticed. Those were your thoughts. Your words.

This is why you're wrong: Craftsmanship is dead, mass production has won.

You can try to put an arbitrary value on something "expensive" based on legacy, but what good is it if the particular thing you buy was only really cared about for a couple minutes during the process?

You can try to justify that value with serialization and "limited releases", but come on... we all know the factory making these keeps right on going.

There's a reason whiskey barrels have had a 10% increase in volume over the past 60 years. And it's not because they magically got better at making the stuff.

It's alright to like nice things, but your barrier for entry is just you being a pompous jerk.

I think you misunderstood my post. I work in the food industry and in my field, you can get a tier of item for 0.99, another tier of item for 1.99 and in some cases, $5+, as high as $12. The difference? Quality of ingredients, how it's made, who makes it, etc. For some, the 99 cent item is OK. But for others, they appreciate the difference in taste, texture, visual, etc. At the end of the day, it's food. But where some may say buying the $12 version of an item is a waste of $$, for others that can afford it and appreciate the quality of the item vs the other tiers, they can justify the price.
