"2 person tent" = room for 1 person + backpack

The way tent capacity is calculated is by the maximum number of people that can fit when arranged head-to-foot with nothing else in the tent.
It's SD...people want a 4 person tent that fits their packs, George Forman grill, and weighs 1.5 pounds. All for $100 or less.
How wide are you guys? This tent's floor dimensions of 88x52in easily accommodates two 72x22in camping pad, which is a common size. Still have 16in at your feet to stand up your backpack, or smarter yet place it under the head of your pad to create a pillow.

Yeah, I'd agree this tent is more ideal for one person rather than two (unless the campers are canoodling). Smilie Looks like it's really easy to set up, which is a bonus.

Shitty fiberglass poles instead of aluminum.

Ok for price and brand name but 3 seasons is a stretch. Rain fly is small and really only for morning dew/drizzle, any real rain will hit all sides of the tent, no vestibule to store pack or shoes, only one door. floor is same piece as sides. A lot of compromises but good for good weather camping. the weight is right for some smaller scouts on a nice weather over nighter

Agreed. Rain fly reminds me of the old $25 tent Kmart had in the late 90s. Rain fly was maybe 2' x 2' on top of a 6' x 6' base tent. At least it had the bathtub floor. That thing lasted me a surprisingly long time. But when it rained, it sucked.

I spent a week camping in a smaller tent with another person.

Biggest problem was length, not width(I'm 6'4")

A couple things... Backpacking tents tend to be more narrow to save on weight, which is where the idea what you need to size up comes from.

You may technically have space at the foot and a few inches on the sides, but with every square inch covered with pads and gear, and the walls angled in, it'll feel cramped pretty quick.

Think of it like a Smart Car. A lot of people could technically fit in one, must folks would be more comfortable in something even a little bit bigger.

You are only sleeping in the thing. When are you going to get the time to feel "cramped"?

Never go for 1 person tent unless you are a small person with a small pack.

I am a huge person and can easily sleep in a 1-person tent.

My biggest problem is that the tent needs to be longer than 7' for me to sleep in it
