The Moto g stylus is probably the best of these phones.
Stylus
1080p screen
Works with T-Mobile right out of the box

Cons
The cpu is weaker than previous generation stylus or even the same model year Stylus 4G model.
I have a bunch of Sony, Samsung,LG 4k demo videos. This 5g stylus is the only one of the 3 Stylus who struggles to play those videos
Get the 2022 g stylus 5G folks and not this old one. It's miles ahead of last year's model because of the superior processor. I have two and it's blazing fast!
-180 days to unlock
-you can get port in #s from eBay or search slickdeals for the .99 Boost mobile SIM (it runs off the AT&T network so it would be eligible to port to Metro)
-you can just cancel after the 1st month by not paying for another month and making sure you dont singup for any autopay w/ Metro

Yes. I did a few weeks ago, but it was a lousy experience overall. The employees claimed that they didn't know anything about the $40 plan, even after I showed them the website. The phones I was interested in were unavailable and everything was more expensive than the online advertising. They claimed that the store was a franchise and may not support the pricing I had seen.

Left with 1 months service and my old 4G phone - will be leaving after the 30 days is up.

These types of shenanigans are unfortunately extremely common and the main reason why I never bother with in store Metro by T-Mobile promotions, even if some of them are very enticing.

I've been with Metro since I got the Stylus last year for free, and it sure depends on what store you go to as to what service you get. One close to me here is terrible, but one 5 miles down the road is not as bad. Turnover is pretty big, too, so it depends on how helpful the employee is. Service is good for me, though, so for $40 a month I'm still with them.

I made the mistake of having my number ported over and once I saw the total, I told them to forget it and left without a new phone. Paid $60 for a sim card and one month.

The franchise owner reached out to me by email and I replied with my experience - never heard back.

I'm sure that's the case here. The employees seem well-trained at selling as much as they can as quickly as possible without explaining anything.

Still, it's mystifying how they don't offer or know about the $40 unlimited plan that's advertised everywhere.

I called the local Metro store and they said that the essential plan is the lowest at $60/line. This is the TM plan right? Not $40?

I called again and told me about prepaid lines at $40 promo with entry level phones only and you need to pay for 3 months in advance to get these entry level phones.

But for postpaid plans there is no contract and phones are free. Should I proceed with this - am I missing something?

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank desi_babu_2010

and before anyone ask....[AGAIN]

to have phone unlock in 180 days (6 months)

u need to have activated the phone 180 days ago.

u do not. repeat do NOT have to pay for service for 180 days.

the above has been true for most every metro deal in the past.
it is extremely likely true for this deal as well

also note...many times M reps will make up rules...

if it sounds odd...its probably made up

Make sure you go to a 'Corporate store' and NOT an 'Authorized Retailer' - you'll more than likely have a better experience. Check the website and search locations and you can see which locations near you are a Corporate store. Better service and less fees dealing with corporate vs authorized dealers.

We do need to consider $20 for the activation fee in-store right? I thought they started that again at even the corporate stores as well.

The one I went to was charging $25 even though the website clearly says $20. Follow the advice above. Go to a corporate store, not a franchise.

No, or you shouldn't be able to unless you run into a moron at the store. Mint is run on the TMo network. You'd need a number assigned to Verizon or A&T or one of their MVNOs.

Can I order online and pick it up in store.

The one I went to is a corp store - they didn't tell me about any advantages of porting in! But see it online! What is going on?

It says, it's free with port in, existing number. New number is $69.
