I like this idea of this thing helping to modernize older cars with older stereo systems, but this requires your car stereo to have Bluetooth, which my car does not, which means my car is REALLY old.

Too bad this thing can't connect to a car stereo via AUX or USB and then allow my phone to connect to this thing via Bluetooth

Hey, might double-check that. According to their site, it hooks to your phone via Bluetooth, and then your phone connects to your stereo thru BT or AUX or USB, same as it does now.
It looks neat, but honestly it just looks like an extra screen for Spotify so you can use your phone for GPS, or not use your phone screen, but it still goes thru your phone, and uses it's data or wifi.
To each their own, I guess.

Agreed. I need a cassette deck adapter.

Seems like a good price. Especially when you check 3rd party market and see people selling it for $200. Doesn't replace steering wheel controls for skipping songs though. To me that's better.

It's usually $80 so it's $30 less now

Yeah I know that. Haven't followed up on it since I was invited to try it but didn't get to be one of the free people. Figured maybe they didn't make enough and people were scalping.

If your car has to have Bluetooth, couldn't you wirelessly (via Bluetooth) stream Spotify to your car via the app? Seems like their solution to nobody's problem.

They must have spent millions of dollars hiring consultants to come up with such a unique name for this...car thing.

I don't see this product lasting very long. Personally I think it was a stupid idea. Everybody now owns a smart phone and can stream any audio service through their smart phone to pretty much any head unit old or new. Adding another device when your phone can do the same thing is kind of stupid. But who knows only time will tell if this thing survives.

it's not lasting long, Spotify just announced they are discontinuing it due to poor sales so i'd stay away from this since support for it will be gone as well.

If my phone is being used at all then this thing is redundant. Cars now have Android Auto and Apple Carplay. This product was a bad idea doomed to fail.

My car won't show the audio playing so having this will be nice to see the songs and switch the play lists while using my phone for navigation

The Car Thing connects to your phone via Bluetooth, and your phone connects to your car stereo via USB or Aux.

I got a Car Thing at the clearance/fire sale price to modernize my '06 Subaru, and I love it. For $50, I could care less if Spotify won't continue to support it.

Edit: to be clear, my car stereo does not have Bluetooth, and doesn't need it for this to work. Just needs USB or an Aux jack.
