This is exciting. Read an article today that Samsung has recently improved their utilization of large OLED sheets to get more panels per sheet with less waste. Assuming driving the cost down. I'll be grabbing this model when it gets below about $1600 at the end of the year. I was holding out for the 65 QN90A to drop below $1190 (EPP) on Samsung's site but so far no go. My only real concern is that there is some bright room criticism about this TV regarding "raised blacks" but I don't quite understand what it is yet.

i highly doubt that the s95b price for the 65 inch will drop that low to 1600 by the end of the year. Currently the lg tv took 2021 tvs to reach that price months after their 2022 models came out and they have years to prefect their manufacturing. With samsung tv it will go lower next year when the new models come out probably around your 1600 or lower. Also with sonys unknown a95k (uses the same panel) release date and 4000 price tag... prices wont come down sub 2000 anytime soon.

The raised blacks is a not an issue and seriously exaggerated after linus pointed it out. Sorry but he should let the pros like hdtvtest review tvs and just stick to computers. Honestly in a bright room i would rather have the s95b with its anti reflective coating any day over lg. Lg oleds are a mirror and reflects light so much.

I meant end of the model year so like April 2023. This TV will 99% go below $1600 by that time. This is, of course, using employer discount (EPP).

I personally dont think there is anyway this TV gets to $1600 in a year..MAYBE $2000 from places like GT and EPP and $2200-2300 at Best Buy/Amazon

This Tv is like the one to have right now

In regards to the QN90A I thought it had dropped to the $1190 price on Samsung EPP?..even so I think its out of stock in the 65" at many places now

Maybe by the time that its discontinued and the next model has been rolled out...the LG C1 comes to mind as an example

In my opinion..there would be no reason for Samsung to drop the price. They have the " it" Tv right now
Unless Sony's version comes out and blows it out of the water , for about the same price, I dont think we will see that type of discounting

Look how high priced last years " it" Tv still is..the Sony A90J

Samsung and Sony seem to volley off each other price moves and react accordingly to how well the professional reviews present them as compared to each other

Man this site is tough today. You think we only see $240 more drop in the next 11 months? CMON!

Also, yes, the QN90 has been locked at $1190 but holding out since it's replacing a decent TV already (65KS8000).

the sony a95k review is out on hdtv test on youtube. Its not worth the 4k msrp price tag (1k sony price tax over s95b). And with the s95b 65 inch at this price its a no brainer decision in favor of samsung.

Unless the Sony version is known to perform better
Why would Samsung start discounting heavy on a unique item that is the TV to have right now?
It was MSRP and people were buying it for that

Maybe I misunderstood on the Qn90A..thought you said you would be a buyer for that price?

I havent spent a lot of time with the QN90A

But some time ago I has a KS9800 and a KS8000 in my home and the KS9800 was definitely a better set....though the blooming could be atrocious, it was definitely brighter and has better black levels than the KS8000
As it should have because I think it was twice the price

I havent followed Samsung flagship local dimming models closely much since then. I assume they are better now, but I dont know

Can anyone comment on the pros and cons of this vs a G1 or A90J?

i went from a 2018 q6fn model... so its a base qled model thats edge lit. I did buy and try to q90b 2022 top 4k qled model. The blooming as really good and kept in check on the q90b but no where near oled of course. Biggest plus on s95b is the motion and 144hz pc gaming. If you game at all on consoles i would not get the a95k cause of its 2 hdmi 2.1 port. S95b has 4 ports and has more gaming features.
The lg g1 is okay and considered it because of the 5 year panel warranty. I just cant stand the abl on the lg ( at least with the c1 -my grandpa owns one). I cant attest for the brightness of the g1 but the s95b is very bright over the c1. If you got the cash the s95b is so good. Lg's white pixel effect cant come close to the rgb of s95b.

Con/bug? for s95b is the asbl. on sustained dark scenes the display would get gradually darker. A good example ive seen it is on the new batman movie. I fixed it by disabling asbl in the service menu but i guess it isnt for everyone.
Another con is its damn frustrates me to clean the tv screen. Samsungs antireflective coating makes cleaning it a pain. You have to use at least 70% isopropyl alcohol and a lot of scrubbing.
