We love our Creami and use it all the time. This is a great deal.

It's literally impossible to get plastic shards in your food with this. The blades (it's not really even blades because they're not sharp) don't touch the plastic container at all. Those people must have been doing something wrong.
One of the easiest things to do is to take a can of fruit, such as pineapple or mango (my favorite) and just dump it into one of the containers and freeze it for 24 hours. Then use it to make sorbet. Use the Sorbet option on the Creami and then do one Respin and it comes out great. I like to add some Vanilla protein powder to it (add before freezing).

Milkshakes are really quick and easy too. My kids love the Oreo milkshakes that I make them. Add about 3 big scoops of Cookies & Cream ice cream, 1/4 oz milk and some crumbled up Oreos. Put it in the Creami, press the Milkshake button and you're done. They come out great.

I have yet to experiment with making my own ice cream with it but there are a lot of recipes out there.
Why did I buy this? Frickin Slickdeals. Head Bang

Even though I bought an open box Whynter(?) with compressor, I'm still tempted to get it. I did see though that two reviews said plastic shards got into their food...

Mine arrives tomorrow with a couple of extra pints. Any recommendations on first recipes to get the family excited about the thing?

Dang only 1 pint. Waiting for that Costco deal to come back for around $135 for 3 pint bowls. They used to offer 4.

I had this, how is everyone getting around using the ice cream/sorbet a few days later after being in the freezer. I find that I need to re-spin it in the machine to get the consistency back. Ended up returning it since I didn't want to keep the machine on the countertop all the time but whatever we made always needed to re-spin to use.

It may be that they are not leveling off the top after it's frozen. Kathy Hester on Youtube mentioned this could possibly pull the blade off to the side.

As others have said, dumping canned fruit and making sorbet is easy and awesome.

Another thing I do is take some frozen cherries, defrost them, mix in cocoa powder, monk fruit sugar substitute, vanilla extra extract, pinch of salt, pinch of x gum, spoon of softened cream cheese and then fill to line with equal parts heavy cream and milk. Tastes like a chocolate sundae

I respin a couple of times and each time I scrape the mixture off the edges of the pint into the middle so it blends smoother
