If misalignments will drive your nuts, you def. need to stay away from Seiko. Been buying their watches for decades. It's very rare to get a Seiko without some QC issue...

I was looking at the woot sale and noticed the Seiko 5 series for sale …. When did they start jacking the price up on those? I just checked my email and bought a pilot style 5 for $21.78 in 2015 from Jomashop.

About 3 years ago Seiko launched a revived 5 line and started putting out more Prospex, often reissues of old but successful models, all with increased pricing. The 5 is still the cheapest but there are some bells and whistles added, albeit with some lost utility. For example, skx007 was discontinued and replaced with 5kx in a zillion colorways but no screwdown crown.
