I would like to point out if you only have a single job that requires this type of vacuum, mold, lead or asbestos work, this is a deal even if used only once. But if you don't follow all of the safety procedures, you are creating a potentially significant fatal error. Also some health departments will loan out these types of vacuums to their residents.

sounds like you can run it without the hepa filter, but there may be cheaper models if you don't need the hepa filter.

good deal, would buy if I didnt just buy another model vacmaster. This meets EPA RRP rules, which means you could use it for things like lead paint/asbestos cleanup if you're a contractor and a good idea if you're just a homeowner too. Not sure you could find a cheaper RRP vac.

If you don't need that level filtration, then this is probably overkill given the filter cost.

Any shop vac can vacuum vents. If you're worried about improper filtration, you can buy dust collection bags (great for drywall dust) that will fit inside the vacuum and filter better than the standard shop vac filters. You can also buy extra lengths of hose for cheap and stick the vacuum outside. I do this for all kinds of projects, but really it's for the noise. You get a small drop in performance, but the tradeoff for noise is worth it.

I know it's relatively different and smaller capacity, but it is half the price, and even more notably just a few weeks ago it was selling for only $29. So if you can find it for that price or wait until it returns to that price you could get quite a deal. Just a thought/suggestion.

This deal might still be 29 in stores. I bought one and saw it in stores this past weekend. Why spend 3 times as much when the 29 one does pretty decent

I don't know about this particular shop vac, but in general when vacuuming up liquids with a shop vac you always want to take out the paper filter.

In theory you could just use a bag to keep almost everything from entering the filter and then wash out the mesh pre-filter occasionally too. I've always done this with my shop vacs and I'm still on the original hepa filters 10 years later with no loss of suction. You just need to be careful buying the cheap bags, some of them will pop holes and then you gotta disassemble and fully rewash everything.

It's always a good idea to use a bag anyways for easy disposal.

I have this one. It is a good price if you need a specialized Hepa Vac. I used mine for mold remediation and dustless sanding and it has worked well for those purposes. You have to use the bags to keep your hepa filter clean and to achieve the true Hepa rating so that is an additional cost to consider as well as the Hepa filter replacement. If you just need a shop vac there are better options as others have mentioned. If you need a Hepa vac then this is the best value I have seen.
