I got this last time around and while browsing eBay it showed up again in suggested items so thought I'd share since I didn't see if posted yet.

FYI - The one I received two months ago has the 240v outlets in the middle, and the four 120v outlets above the wheel. I mention this because the listing has several pictures with both configurations.
If I recall correctly this was important to some because if you have a 90 degree 240v plug the wheel would get in the way. This was my experience, and can't be sure that someone won't get the other/older version but they moved so many last time I can only imagine that there are only newer units.

Autocare Depot via ebay has Pulsar 12,000W Dual Fuel Portable Generator with Electric Start (G12KBN) for $846.

I got hit with tax so it came to $902.05 for me, but some people won't have to pay tax.

I have yet to test mine out yet because I need to drive a grounding rod into my lawn, but delivery was fast, the unit looks to be built solid, and the Pulsar customer support was very quick to answer some basic questions I had about what oils should/shouldn't be used(because this is my first generator).

Took about 15 minutes to attach the supports and wheels.

Product Features:
12,000 peak watts/ 9,500 rated watts (gasoline)
10,800 peak watts/ 8,550 rated watts (propane)
Dual Fuel Capability allows you to choose between Gasoline & LPG fuel sources
457cc, single cylinder, 4-stroke, air cooled, OHV engine with electric start
Powder coated frame
8 gallon fuel tank provides up to 12 hours of continuous operation at half load when running on gasoline

4x 120V 20A AC outlets
1x 120V/240V 30A twist-lock outlet
1x 120V/240V 50A outlet

I have a feeling these things (along with many other things) are going to come way down as people slow their consumer spending with the recession and inventories start to not move (or increase.) I'm going to take a chance and wait a few months...

It's possible, but I'd expect the big generators will stay pretty expensive. If you go back 7 years or so you can see that comparable generators were showing up on slickdeals in the $600-$700 range (https://slickdeals.net/e/10250336-duromax-10-000-surge-watt-8-000-watt-hybrid-dual-fuel-generator-599-99-on-ebay & https://slickdeals.net/e/10481620-pulsar-dual-fuel-10000w-generator-749-99-at-newegg-com). I suspect the larger 400+ cc engines used in these things are just much more expensive than the 212cc engines that show up in all the 3500 watt generators that sell for less than $300.

Exactly why I jumped on the deal last time since the price, capacity and reviews from everyone seemed to hit all points. Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

I'm going to research this as much as possible on my end but if anyone already has recommendations for extension cords to use for appliances like a fridge, a freezer, a microwave that can do the job and are reasonably priced to work with a generator that would be helpful! Thanks!

My advice is to go cheap on extension cords, 12 gauge on anything running from your generator, amazon will provide everything you need and shop, prices range considerably and build up your 12 gauge inventory over time if you are on a budget. Safety is critical with generators so no cheapie extension cords-you could get by with 14 and save a few bucks but not worth it. 12 gauge on the entire run from a genny, don't get lazy and use anything else even the last few feet, cheap cords heat up and you get fire.

Also, lighted plugs are handy. Make sure you have at least 5 days of fuel, I have a minimum of 7 before a hurricane. Practice long before you need it, starting it. Lay out your extension cords so you know what you need, doing it after the power is out isn't good. All family members stay 6 ft away from the genny unless they know what they are doing and keep it well ventilated e.g well away from windows or better yet anywhere people will be including neighbors.

Make sure you break in the generator, the manual will have the procedure. Lots of great advice on the internet concerning generators, study it for a positive outcome.

I'm assuming if it can use propane it can also use natural gas with small decrease in power output. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks for this! Just in case others skim over what you wrote, based on you elaborating about no cheapie extension cords you meant NOT to go cheap on extension cords. I still have to test mine out but I'm hesitant to finalize on a location because I have to drive that grounding rod into the ground which is gonna be a pain in the ass unless I get one of those hammer drill bits but they're like $35-50 bucks and once it's in I don't think I'm gonna be able to easily get it out. I figure I'd just chalk it up to exercise with a sledge, but really want to get the spot right.
Thanks again for taking the time to share that info, I appreciate it!

I had only looked into Tri-Fuel generators for a second because I don't have natural gas at my house, but I believe you'd need a conversion kit for a Dual-Fuel generator to be able to run on natural gas safely and without doing lots of MacGyvering.

Tri-Fuel generators can run off gasoline, propane, or natural gas out of the box.

That is helpful for sure. I saw the one for sale at Costco that does say tri-fuel, but it's less powerful to start and by the time you run it on natural gas won't be near what it's rated to on gas so I think I'm better off running something like this one off natural gas after purchasing some kind of conversion kit.
Thanks again for your insight!

Nash fuel makes a conversion kit. Very simple regulator swap. Did that on mine and it works perfectly

East coast hurricane season is happening and although it's been tame for ConUS, I would never bet on prices going down between Aug-Oct.

From a historical perspective, it is quite rare for 10kw+ to drop below $800 unless you go back to 2018 or perhaps 2019 when the DuroMax and DuroStar 10kw dual fuels were going on sale like every 60 days.

From my limited knowledge, this Pulsar is better quality than those cheaper Duro's. I'm pretty sure my local Lowe's sells this exact model.

how long can this run on a full standard propane tank? LEDs around rooms, but none on at the same time at full brightness, small microwave oven, and 3 fridges?
