AquaWater09901 have you confirmed that this works to get you to 28MPH? Also recognize you have the Big Swell I believe. Have been trying this on the Big Sur, as others have said, perhaps with other models as well they haven't been able to change it.

Perhaps you even have a different LCD Display? I can see on the back of mine it says it is Model AK47.

I have tried searching for hacks on Model AK47 but haven't come up with anything, but see this is in fact the display as quantities can be bought from Alibaba etc, showing this display.

I did notice I can get to some type of undocumented menu on mine with PO levels and settings by holding down the up and down at the same time while the display is on.

Edit:

Ah, I figured out how to remove the limit!!

These PO settings look to be standard.
So get to the PO settings by holding the Up/Down at the same time after the LCD is on.
Click on the power button to go through the PO's.
PO8 is the limit! This is in kmh, this was set to 32, bump this up with the up arrow to 41. That is the max I could change it to. This works out to 25.5 mph.
After this change I can get to 25mph going down a hill.
On a straight road I can cruise at about 22 with full throttle. Pedaling fast like crazy I can get it up 24.

So this is a bit of an increase. Perhaps with a bigger front sprocket I could peddle a bit normally and get to 25.

Perhaps it is a limit of the 350W motor or the battery to get me with throttle to 23 or so, but I don't think the controller itself will let me go above 41kph with motor assist.

Possibly changing wheel size, PO6, would allow assist at faster speed?

FYI, I see some people have commented about their having 5 instead of 3 levels. This can be set in the PO5 setting.

Here are the PO settings for an entirely different controller, but they look pretty close from what I see. https://elecbikeparts.com/pages/s...ser-manual

There could be some other cool settings to see what they are and work with them.

for example: P12 PAS Start Strength
0-5, Higher = more assistance
Amount of assistance given when you start pedaling.

I am thinking this must be low. It seems to give very little help right away. Perhaps a safety feature set at factory? But I want help right away!

Or PO9 might affect how quickly it helps?
P09 Throttle Response
0 for instant throttle, 1 for delayed throttle
Sets whether pressing throttle and motor beginning to spin is instant, or whether there is a delay between the actions.

Edit: P09 was already set at 0 and can't be changed
P12 was set at 3 and can't go higher, but it can go lower.

FYI, read on this site https://power-bicycle.com/ebike-power/ that hub motors are pretty much limited to 25.

"Once the ebike is travelling at 25 MPH, the controller-wheel speed is maxed out. You can't go far over 25 MPH on most hub motors unless the motor & controller pair are designed for higher speeds."

This guy also talks about a smoothing circuit the mfgs implement for greater distance. Something about a loop back wire that can be removed to increase initial assistance but at
a sacrifice in distance.

Is this random china stuff?

Not a lot of reviews. I got a warning going to this site (possibly fraudulent?).

Why don't they sell any ebikes on their non-corporate site?

Is anyone else concerned this is a knockoff? Joyridebikes.com is the original site (since 2001) selling Hurley and joyridebike.com (since 2015) is painted with 'weird' all over it.

I have been using one from Specialized for my normal bike, Align II. Just find a helmet that has MIPS (pretty much an extra layer that is intended to slow/reduce the amount of energy transferred to your head). Align II was on sale for like $35 (normal is $55) and I believe Costco had a MIPS helmet from another brand on sale for a similar price.

I spoke with support, they said Teton is out of stock for good. Id go with the Thruster, same exact bike different brand
I'd spend the extra money for the Diablo, it has disc brakes and is 7 speed, many complaints on here about how it sucks pedaling a single speed. I just purchased it, seems like a pretty decent deal and also looks aesthetically pleasing.

I got the Acadia, which is technically the Hurley Laguna- and it had 5 levels for pedal assist the first week I had it. Today it has 9 levels and the throttle powers even I'm fully stopped. Not sure what type of settings I'm engaging but at least it's working properly today.
Do you remember what you did to change the settings?

See my note here on how to change settings. Or the link in the note to the P0 setting list. The different P0 settings appear to be pretty standard across controllers and the method to get to them has been the same for the ones I read as well. With the display on, pressing up/down at the same time for 3 seconds gets you to the P0 settings. Options within the settings can be different across controllers.

P05 sets the number of levels. 3 or 5 on my Big Sur, perhaps 5 or 9 on yours?

Honest question: How good are these bikes? It seems that the price is pretty cheap. I know nothing about e-bikes. Just wondering how good is the build quality, components, etc.

Thank you.

From previous comments, people seem satisfied with their ebikes. I also purchased one, first ebike (Diablo) and I'd say they're all pretty good starter ebikes and plus, quite a bit of ebikes are made in the same factory with a different brand label slapped on it, good example is this site, Hurley and Avalanche brands. Same bike, but Hurley has an upcharge due to its brand.

I have no idea what I did- I contacted joy ride about all of the settings not discussed in the manual. Hoping they'll send me a guide. My husband got the Big Sur and the directions posted here for accessing the settings menu work for him but not mine. He was also able to get the level up to 9 but neither of us have gotten the throttle above 20-21 mph

Although I wasn't able to upped the speed limit for the Diablo, this is very helpful. Thank you!

Update #2 on the Amped St; I'm at 20 miles and the battery is at 3 out of 5 bars. It's supposed to last just 20 miles so I wonder if the indicator is off or the bike is more efficient than the specs indicate. I use mostly peddle assist so maybe that factors in more than I thought it would. Love it more with every ride.

The second Amped St I ordered on Monday hasn't shipped yet (and no label created) so really hoping that changes soon.

I'm looking at the pictures on the website. Does the Diablo not come with an LCD screen?
