AquaWater09901 have you confirmed that this works to get you to 28MPH? Also recognize you have the Big Swell I believe. Have been trying this on the Big Sur, as others have said, perhaps with other models as well they haven't been able to change it.

Perhaps you even have a different LCD Display? I can see on the back of mine it says it is Model AK47.

I have tried searching for hacks on Model AK47 but haven't come up with anything, but see this is in fact the display as quantities can be bought from Alibaba etc, showing this display.

I did notice I can get to some type of undocumented menu on mine with PO levels and settings by holding down the up and down at the same time while the display is on.

Edit:

Ah, I figured out how to remove the limit!!

These PO settings look to be standard.
So get to the PO settings by holding the Up/Down at the same time after the LCD is on.
Click on the power button to go through the PO's.
PO8 is the limit! This is in kmh, this was set to 32, bump this up with the up arrow to 41. That is the max I could change it to. This works out to 25.5 mph.
After this change I can get to 25mph going down a hill.
On a straight road I can cruise at about 22 with full throttle. Pedaling fast like crazy I can get it up 24.

So this is a bit of an increase. Perhaps with a bigger front sprocket I could peddle a bit normally and get to 25.

Perhaps it is a limit of the 350W motor or the battery to get me with throttle to 23 or so, but I don't think the controller itself will let me go above 41kph with motor assist.

Possibly changing wheel size, PO6, would allow assist at faster speed?

FYI, I see some people have commented about their having 5 instead of 3 levels. This can be set in the PO5 setting.

Here are the PO settings for an entirely different controller, but they look pretty close from what I see. https://elecbikeparts.com/pages/s...ser-manual

There could be some other cool settings to see what they are and work with them.

for example: P12 PAS Start Strength
0-5, Higher = more assistance
Amount of assistance given when you start pedaling.

I am thinking this must be low. It seems to give very little help right away. Perhaps a safety feature set at factory? But I want help right away!

Or PO9 might affect how quickly it helps?
P09 Throttle Response
0 for instant throttle, 1 for delayed throttle
Sets whether pressing throttle and motor beginning to spin is instant, or whether there is a delay between the actions.

Edit: P09 was already set at 0 and can't be changed
P12 was set at 3 and can't go higher, but it can go lower.

FYI, read on this site https://power-bicycle.com/ebike-power/ that hub motors are pretty much limited to 25.

"Once the ebike is travelling at 25 MPH, the controller-wheel speed is maxed out. You can't go far over 25 MPH on most hub motors unless the motor & controller pair are designed for higher speeds."

This guy also talks about a smoothing circuit the mfgs implement for greater distance. Something about a loop back wire that can be removed to increase initial assistance but at
a sacrifice in distance.

Is this random china stuff?

Not a lot of reviews. I got a warning going to this site (possibly fraudulent?).

Why don't they sell any ebikes on their non-corporate site?

Is anyone else concerned this is a knockoff? Joyridebikes.com is the original site (since 2001) selling Hurley and joyridebike.com (since 2015) is painted with 'weird' all over it.

Just canceled not worth it. Price was good but no customer service not a deal to me.
Even if the bike works when I get it. What happens if it breaks or stops working?
I contacted Joyride via email a couple of weeks ago and they sent me a new kickstand.
Also, I buy these with Amex cards that double the warranty.

What bikes did you cancel? Maybe they become available again. I prefer the Betty/Big Sur bikes or even a Teton if they become available again.

They are definitely just overwhelmed at the moment, likely only have several employees since that's all that was needed to handle the average volume prior. I also emailed them a few weeks ago to see if they offer a replacement battery for the Diablo, the CEO actually messaged me back on the same day during the weekend (they didn't have any available, stated it might be some time and just told me to check aliexpress or another alternative, which I ended up doing).

Has anyone tried contacting Hurley directly with issues needing warranty? Since Joy Ride is not responding.
Thinking of canceling my 2 bike orders, since there appears to be no warranty from Joy Ride.

Cancelling is probably the best thing you can do for the company. You sound like a problem customer.

Looking for a problem where there is none. Go ahead and cancel, someone else waiting to buy it anyway. No problem for them LMAO

If the posts I read on this thread are true. Considering that it is being reported that the warranties are not being honored for a dead battery and so on......... It seems to me to be a problem seller LMAO You obviously don't understand what customer service is laugh out loud When I buy a new item I expect it to work. If it doesn't the seller should make it right. This does not appear be to be the case with Joy Ride Bikes. I feel bad for anyone who has purchased an item that didn't work as advertised. If the seller defrauds me I become a disgruntled customer not a problem customer.

Yup, just like I said, a bad customer. Not even a customer, but yet you are saying Joyride is a problem seller?. Throwing words like fraud around?

Jeez man, this thread is over 30 pages, they obviously sold out of a lot of models. Yes they are probably busy. This is a holiday weekend. A lot of people got their bikes and reported back it's a great deal. One person even told you they got a replacement kick stand under warranty.

You don't know the whole story with the few complaints as they haven't really followed up and I am not sure they have given a reasonable amount of time yet for a resolution. Yes, it sucks if they got a bum product, but give them a chance to make it right. Not stamp your feet and throw a hissy fit someone didn't answer you that day.

And of course most people know if they really do get a DOA bike and nothing is done to remedy it, they can easily do a chargeback. No one paid cash here.

So you didn't buy a bike (or bought it but cancelled before it shipped), didn't have a problem, didn't need warranty service, but you are here to say how bad their customer service is? You must have a hard time in life.

There are 3 threads all on this seller with multiple buyers reporting unsolved problems. People received used scooters and bad bikes. With No resolution from the seller for weeks. I I guess to you a replaced kick stand makes it all OK. People should be able to know feedback from buyers, to see if they can trust the seller if something goes wrong. In this case a lot has gone wrong with multiple buyers, and to you a replaced kick stand makes the seller trustable. Tell that to all the buyers with DOA batteries and a seller who doesn't honor returning the item or a warranty. By not responding to their emails and phone calls. Maybe this is a seller you want to buy from and trust. Then you have no common sense, and can't complain if you get screwed, knowing these facts before you buy.

This sounds very much like the GEN3 thread (the ebike I happened to buy and, fortunately, haven't had a problem with, and love) - low price, no customer support, etc.
I ordered a helmet last Sunday. As of today, they've printed a shipping label. Hopefully, it will ship after the holiday weekend. I have, however, stopped holding my breath.
Good luck to everyone else.

No, Amex will pay for repairs or refund the entire price.

Edit: somewhat questionable on Amex extending battery warranty, since consumables such as "batteries" are excluded. So it would give them an out.

They also exclude "motorized vehicles", but in my experience for other Amex benefits they apply this only to gas powered. For example Amex has covered return protection for me on an eBike, and that benefit also excludes "motorized vehicles".

Amex is pretty lenient in what they approve. For example they exclude "watches", but they cover "smart watches" because they must consider them an electronic device.

Amex sounds much better than what I dealt with. I've dealt with Masterard extended warranties on an iphone, it was a lot of work and I had to pay a local place $40 to have it inspected and to write up a repair sheet. (this took 3 times to send in as each time they said there wasnt enough information, took almost 3 months for all this and in the end they gave me the price for repair, a 4 year old iphone than to replace it)

I also tried to do an extended warranty claim with Mastercard on a dehumidifier. Now that was super hard because no one would look at it. Only place was 2 hours away since they are all just made to fail and not repairable I guess.

I've heard that local bike places wont touch an ebike they dont sell, so I dont know if you could even get a repair sheet on what is wrong with one of these to send in.

OK, that is concerning then, if a local bike shop won't look at it to do a repair estimate, because of course Amex does require a repair estimate. Dealing with them on a stereo right now, waiting for estimate from authorized repair center, so I will see how it works out. I have had return and purchase (lost item) protection which they have been very good about. Not sure about how good they are on warranty.

Called customer service today. I told them my scooter stopped working, and they said. " We are in the middle of moving our customer service from New York to Idaho and are having some issues along the way. We will take care of your issue. Can you call back in an hour?." I called back a couple times later on and no answer, just voicemail. I will try again tomorrow.

I have both the big swell and mini swell and I am very happy with both. The big swell not only has the bigger motor/faster, it also has upgraded components. Hydraulic brakes, 8 speed cassette, shamano tourney derailleur, 15ah battery, brighter headlight. The frame is the same size, the seat is 1in shorter and the handle bars are 1 inch taller.

If you are looking for a scrambler style ebike, the big swell for $1380 is hard to beat. If you can afford the extra cash get the big swell especially if they don't collect sales tax at checkout.
Is 1000w peak or normal?

My best guess is 750 watt nominal and 1000 watt peak. The Manufacturer's is Neco and the model # is m58cd-x. The rear hub motor is only listed in their 2023 catalog and is not under products. The catalog listing it is not much of a help with detailed specs.
