Some tips for an even slicker deal if you have Discover credit rewards balance, convert your points for a discounted Nike GC. Also Discover currently has 5% CB if you use PayPal checkout.

good shoes, bad (very bad) traction.

comfy for trail running—but like all trail shoes, stiff anywhere else

would recommend anyway (unless you mean to use them on slick wet trail)

WildHorse 7 that's also for sale a better option?

Traction isn't any better, the benefit from the pegasus trail 3 is that it's more stable than the Wildhorse 7 and arguably more comfortable.

Why does a TRAIL shoe have bad traction? 🙄

I have these and there's nothing trail about it, but it is a comfortable shoe for everyday casual walking etc.

It scores pretty well for dry climates

I'm at 1900 miles hiking with these shoes (80% trail, 20% pavement). I think I can get 100 more miles until I need a new pair. These are my favorite trail shoes.

If you plan to do hiking on dirt trails and a combination of pavement too this shoe will work. If not look into the standard pegasus 37 or 38. If you have a wide foot go for the 38s as the 37s run narrow.

These shoes do horribly on slick or dusty flat surfaces. It's a loose dirt trail running shoe, not to be mistaken for an actual hiking shoe like Merrell's.

This should be FP for the savings value.
$64.78 AC
And I saved an extra 10% on CB and 5% on Discover/PP, making them $55.
Who the heck downvoted this for bad price?!

I debated this purchase heavily. I really want a more technical trail shoe, as well, from Salomon. But soon I'll be on some dirt and pebble and gravel like trails at a campground, and it will be dry. So these should do well, and given that their lugs are 3.3mm, not 4mm or more, they should be comfortable for running while on vacation with these harder packed surfaces. A little hill hiking too.

Any number of reviews will point out not to use these (or any Nike's really) on wet surfaces, mud, or snow. Nike's rubber outsoles on their trail shoes have poor grip and become a liability. But a daily hike, trail walk or run, crossover with road runs for an easy 5K, these can do that. And they are comfortable and familiar to road runners due to the high drop (9.5mm, heads up here) and stack height. I'll give them a shot.

My next shoe is probably a Salomon Speedgoat 5 on discount, or Ultra Glides. I considered Sense Ride 4's instead of these Pegs today. They can be had for about $96 at road runner for VIP members (an extra $1.99 if you need to sign up). Those are well respected do-it-all trail running shoes, but also a high 8mm drop. Whereas the Ultra Glides are 6mm.

Agreed this was given a higher rating by reviewers than the wildhorse 7 shoe that was FP.
