Wheat gluten.
Corn starch.
Formerly living unknown things known as by-products.
Amongst a plethora of other stuff only found in the worst foods.
Some people have higher standards of what to feed their pets but it doesn't make them snobs.
I have a cat who is 17 1/2 years old. He has no internal issues. No kidney disease or other issues that usually plaque older cats. He does have arthritis and it's hard for him to keep on weight. My vet told me its more important that he just eats and keeps on weight than what he eats right now.
So we try all kinds of new foods especially when I can get em for 50 cents or less per can and we just rotate them in his normal diet. He tends to get excited over "new" food and eats more on those days. So the cheap "cheeseburger" food works for what we need it for.
We also have 3 neighborhood strays who I put out food for mainly during the winter. I'm not paying $1+ a can to feed the strays and they don't seem to care when it comes to a full belly.

You're absolutely right and we should feed our cats the best food we can afford. I wish I could do better. I have 18 foster cats right now (welcome kitten season) and this is a pretty good deal. Maybe someday more people will find their way to donating for rescued cats and dogs and they can all get the care they deserve (ok, soap box over!).

Yeah. My nephew didn't approve of any prepared cat food and only fed his cats freshly cooked chicken and supplements.
I'd say it might be a better choice for lowest price tier. We all do what we can afford to do and budgets differ.
Dare I say "the one thing we can all agree on is that being fed is far better than .. well.. not being fed"?
Don't Hit Me pet food Nazi's!! Juzt sayin..
