Edit: also, controllers suuuuuuuuuuck.
Edit 2: personal opinion, unless you really need VR right now for some reason, I'd probably wait to see what new tech is going to come out for 2023.

No one should have to downgrade to a less performance video card , even though i own two 3090s as well
Had to complain to customer service and force them to ensure me that there would be no restocking fee. As soon as I got my return label and dropped it off at fed ex , tracking scanned I received an email later this evening that was refunded the full amount with no restocking fee.
Just a fair warning , I can not endorse this product due to this and will be passing on every VR set made until something better is released that actually works out of the box. I can only think Meta VR/aka oculus and Vive headsets work the best out of the box. Support is non existent for HP as this has been an issue going all the way back to April 2022 for the 3090 Ti. Either that my headset was defective or because I was on Windows 11. Software driver seems to only sate windows 10 but this should not matter.
Controllers were clunky compared to the Rift S i own. I may go Vive since Steam is the go to choice now and I hate facebook
quest in not for me brother. I like a built in headset and the ability to use all my storage to max potential , i hate be limited to 128GB to 256GB for games. DCS alone is over 100 GB
id spend the extra money and get a vive unit

I will buy a different headset once they come down in price. Selling my Rift S since support has been dropped as well. Looks like the same thing happen to HP G2.
Also not interested in oculus quest 2 .
Will wait for next gen and sure as hell wont be HP , probably valve this time unless HP has better controllers and tracking which i doubt.
Oculus quest 2 seems to be the best gimmick headset out there. I am sure meta will drop support for this as well in the future like they ditched rift s
https://youtu.be/UsrBEfHcVv4
comfort, audio, clarity vividness and also performance is better and is unrivaled on the G2 compared to a quest 2
a simple pulley system will make it practically wireless feeling
I have both. I can't even play simple games like mini golf, much less more action oriented games such as Ping Pong with the G2. The controllers are absolutely atrocious. Impossible to play actually. Like try one person using Quest and the other G2 in a Ping Pong game. LOL. A 3 year old on Quest could beat a master Ping Pong player using G2. It is just terrible. Can't even put around doing mini golf there is so much loss of control.
I do have Index controllers/lighthouse I will set up with the G2, but what a pain.

Support is obviously dead for HP G2 and owning a meta quest vr is like selling your soul to the devil.
Next Facebook will want a blood sample and full facial recognition to use the head set
I've been playing sims mostly - X-Plane, American Truck Sim, Euro Truck Sim. Also some No Man's Sky. I used to use TrackIR but the VR glasses are much more immersive.
This is my first headset and I'm pretty impressed with it. Setup was really easy and although some games require tweaks others work right out of the box. For the price I'm quite happy, and no weird FB/Meta/etc online components at all. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

for the price is under 400.00
The controllers on my rift s are actually better than the G2. Also the G2 is lacking driver updates , as the 3090 Ti has been o ut for over 4 months n ow and still is not compatible.
I returned mine and they gave me a full refund but had to complain to the foreigner customer service to make sure no restocking fee was added , due to their negligence of now supporting the headset with updates. No one should have to down grade a video card to use a headset.
HP sent a full refund as soon as tracking showed in transit
Controller tracking is important to me since I play a lot of Beat Saber. The tracking was improved with v2, but it's still significantly behind the Oculus/Meta headsets. The lack of 'buttons' (hand gestures) can be important in games that use them, like VRChat.
I also don't want a paperweight when I can't readily purchase a 90$ replacement cable, that is known to fail quickly. The cable is always out of stock. For the Quest 2, you'll always be able to buy a replacement cable, since it's a standard USB cable, and it's cheap to replace. Or could go completely wireless.

I'm casually interested in VR, no way I'd ever be willing to spend 600+ on a headset though so that immediately rules out the best headsets.
It said the oculus one just increased to 400 in August but I missed this deal in June (hadn't built my PC yet) and there was a reason I didn't buy the quest in July. Maybe out of stock? Already 400 bucks? Not really a good headset?
