This item is Certified Refurbished. It has been professionally restored by an Acer approved vendor. Units are usually cosmetically indistinguishable from New products, but some may show signs of light use. Functionally, these units are equivalent to New. Certified Refurbished units will be shipped in a New Brown Box.
Previously bought the i7 version refurbished. Arrived in like new condition in a brown box. Not even a finger print or hair anywhere on it. Runs like a champ. I'm pleased with my Acer refurbished experience.
Just placed my order. After some thought this is a no-brainer. Wanted a 17" screen, but the components for a total of 647.00 is such a good deal. Plus the 2 year warranty... Would be a shame if this broke right before the 2 year ended 😉
It's a 3rd party Allstate Warranty. They typically just send you a check should anything fail. Just mark your calendars before the 2 year date. If you click on the deal and scroll down you can see the warranty info.

Asking for a friend, he's curious what types of "issues" may arise which would warrant replacement?

No, I don't think it is. It also gets bright enough for indoor use, but may not be bright enough for outdoors. An acceptable panel for gaming or daily tasks. I don't feel this is their 100% srgb panel.
I brought a refurbished 2018 acer nitro 5 in 2019. Still works great. Of course since it's older technology, I upgraded the screen, ram and hdds. Nothing broke. Just wanted better. The stats are now more or less what this laptop offers except in 2018 they only came with 1050ti. I would buy this but don't really need it

Bought the 3050 version for $520, and absolutely would have spent the extra $80 for this. I'm amazed at the kind of graphical performance you can get from laptops at this price
