it is Hitachi company, acquired by a company then changed the name to Metabo HPT. I still have one Hitachi impact drill, working good. This package is not heavy duty. The heavy duty drill always have a handle with it.

Metabo HPT is the rebrand of Hitachi Power Tools. They have little to nothing in common with the real Metabo except for being owned by the same big conglomerate company.

To their credit, when KKR acquired Hitachi and renamed it to Metabo HPT, they kept it backwards compatible with the previous Hitachi stuff. Note that nothing is compatible between the original Metabo and Metabo HPT.

Oh Dang! I really wish this would have been posted 2 months ago when I bought the impact driver only for $70. I really like the Metabo HPT tools, and the impact driver is great. Plenty of torque, despite the compact size.

I already had a few of the Hitachi corded tools and like their Multi-Volt system, so it made sense to get the impact driver when I needed one.

Wow, that's a great deal. You get 4 tools, 2 standard batteries, plus the 4/8Ah Multivolt battery for $199. The free battery alone is nearly worth that plus you can expand into the 36V bare tools now.

Great kit. The recip also accepts t shank jig saw blades. For rough projects like a work bench you can easily get through 2x4s and 3/4 ply.

With the rebate battery above you really have a great starter kit for your house to get through most home projects.

Is this better than the HD M12 Fuel hack?

Metabo HPT is the junk off-brand Metabo, right?

I own this kit. Bought it last year when Lowes was running a similar promotion, but it was $279 back then. Yeah, I know, can't go back in time. I've used the tools lightly since then (personal matters prevent home reno), but I've found them to feel solid, intelligently styled/engineered, and meet expectations in terms of performance.

Anyway, with the 36V battery rebate, this is a no brainer. I wish I could go back and tell my historic self to hold out. But, here we are!

How is the battery eco system like? Has it historically been backwards compatible like ryobi?

Are you sure it's the same kit? I remember the Metabo fullsize going on a similar sale last year...this is the subcompact stuff.
