the 6x6 books are so small. Don't recommend. recommend 8x8 and larger. These deals used to be for the 8x8s. Now shutterfly has clearly raised their prices.
Extra pages code "Moments" is good for any size page. I have a feeling the smallest book was chosen so the list price in the title would appear lower.
Yesterday, I purchased several 8x11 books with extra pages as well. The base price is $20 on those though but if you have a large project, the extra pages makes it well worth it. I tend to make big photobooks (60-100 pages) so I only make purchases when extra page codes are available.

Can you premake a book and just wait around for one of these deals? I remember one of the photo sites would only let you apply coupons to projects created after the coupon started, and that's always made me a bit gun shy of actually putting one of these together. Thanks in advance!
Yes, I always premake books to have them on hand for shutterfly sales. No issue there.
I also do my design in illustrator/powerpoint and then just upload full page photos of the slides to each page. That way I'm not limited by their clunky interface and don't have to pay extra for their "premium" design elements since I can throw together better ones anyways. Making the projects off of the sites also means its easier just to use whatever printing service has the best price at the time. I've been pretty happy with Shutterfly print quality though with their upgraded pages so I keep using them whenever coupons are available.

Thanks! I had been planning on doing the same with ppt/illustrator/inkscape. Do you just save it as a pdf and upload each page as an image or as a high res jpg/png?

High res JPG for each page shutterfly-- I tried PNG but Shutterfly doesn't seem to always play nice with those. You will need to go and add the full page picture layout to each page before uploading. I change the DPI of the export using a registry edit if using PPT otherwise the default is too low for print quality.
