Just be aware, I purchased a Optoma UHD50X back in March 2020. Earlier this year it developed a very distracting white dot that displays on the image. Of course the warranty is only 1 year so basically to repair it through Optoma would cost hundreds. I will probably attempt the repair myself but will probably never buy Optoma again.

Trying googling "Optoma white dot" for more information.

Lol I will doubt you, cause I am more experienced than you. Been using projectors for well over 20 years now and only had to replace 1 bulb in my lifetime. I used my projectors as daily drivers so they were on a lot, and even at max output most bulbs lasted almost 4 years. Bulbs only usually fail right at the beginning of ownership cause they are not stress tested when first installed, and the other reason they fail is if you improperly shutdown the projector or experience a power loss while viewing and the bulb cant cool itself off quick enough. They hardly ever fail for any other reason unless you have a defective projector, which like i said you would notice right away.

That being said, you are not wrong that people now need to start looking for LED or Laser projectors as the prices are finally down to earth for most. That does not mean if you can get a very high end bulb projector for a good price you should pass up on it, cause they are still worth it and offer excellent picture and longevity.

The Optoma UHD50X is one of the best-selling 4K projectors on the market. However, it is not without its issues. One of the most common complaints about this projector is white dots on the screen......whoops....looks like why I see so many refurbished units.

Thanks for the heads up, I just saw one in stock this morning, and picked it up. I never knew that amazon gives us 90 days on renewed products to return an item which is plenty of time to test it out and monitor for better sales. I did not get the 3 year warranty but at around the 30 day mark if it looks like I will be keeping the projector I am just going to add it on later.
I just got mine delivered… only 4 hours of usage on it. Outside of refurbished sticker on bottom, looks brand new.

Good chance the projectors being sold refurbished right now were DOA because of shipping and the bulb time is actually the test time at the factory. So in most cases they should be 99.99% brand new. It looks like mine is getting delivered today, just in time for my trip to Texas to use as my primary TV.
