it seems like they were exclusively made for Walmart, which says a lot

Care to elaborate? What does that say?

I'll elaborate. Klipsch has always had different lines for different price points or markets. It used to be easier to tell because the "reference" series had copper drivers while the lesser lines had grey drivers. The Icon series was made exclusive for Best Buy back in the day and Synergy line was another budget line. This pair would be good enough for most non audiophiles.

I am going to return the Klipsch R-15PM from a recent deal. For reference, I purchased the Kanto SYD from an old Crutchfield deal on here at $200 and am thrilled with the quality of that unit.

I would be concerned about the quality of any Klipsch product made specifically for Wal-Mart, especially since I have concerns about the quality of their normal product lines.

If you have concerns about Klipsch quality, id recommend starting with Reference Premier models then. RP500m or RP600m for example.

I'm speaking mainly to a certain price point. I'm sure the handmade Klipschorns are lovely.

One example would be The Fives from a previous deal. They have plenty of adjustment via their app, but a horribly boomy signature out of the box and they totally reset every time you turn them off. So every time you turn the TV on you have to fiddle with EQ. That is an absurdly idiotic oversight from a company as old and storied as Klipsch.

Thanks for the info, I know nothing about speakers. I've been wanting a decent good-looking speakers for my pc setup. I'm starting to see that a lot are not just plug and play, but instead require an amp or stereo receiver. I guess I have to really set time aside and educate myself on this topic.

Good point, never underestimate people spending well beyond their means for things they can't actually understand.
