Intra means 'within'. Inter means 'between'. So inter probably fits better here but either are fine and not really worth grammar policing.

I like Southwest. However, they don't have as many inter-island flights in Hawaii. Worry if flight gets cancelled or delayed. Ended up booking with Hawaiian Airlines for same price, but earlier departure schedule.

For people curious as to "where's the deal", they dropped the interisland prices back to pre-March 2022 levels about two weeks ago. They were hovering around $45 OW. This is about a 10-15% reduction.

Fair enough. No free check bags but they are often price competitive with Southwest. In my own experience I've had a morning HNL-LIH (Oahu - Kauai) flight from Southwest shift to an evening. I ended up calling Southwest to cancel, and they gave me a voucher for $100 for the trouble. I was scheduled to return LIH-HNL on Hawaiian, too. I ended up getting a trip credit for full value that I used for an upcoming trip later this year.

Hopper tends to have monthly sales that knock the price down for one-ways to Honolulu by $50. For those willing to wait and do research, this price is still attainable, give or take $30.

Here comes the: A friend of a friend of a friend read an 3rd party account on reddit (from 7 months ago) where someone claimed to have visited Hawaii and had to wait over 5 minutes for a plane / restaurant / Uber / rental car / at the TSA / etc therefore "buyer beware" before booking your trip because the state 'cannot handle all the tourists.' Bonus points for claiming the car rentals prices are "ridiculous" even if they are in line with similar tourist destinations.

Just came back from Hawaii, inter island tickets were always $29 from Hawaii airline during the summer break, as long as book one, two months ahead. Also free to change your flight. $39 is also the price in Hawaii airline now, so I assume it is just normal price

Saw $26 fares in July I believe, $29 has been common for the last year.

Don't forget to combine with Costco gift card at 10% discount if you're willing to go $500 in.

It seems to vary a lot depending on the island. I just got back from 8 nights in Hawaii, four nights on Kauai and Oahu. Our rental car on Oahu was $400 while in Kauai it would have been $900 for the same class of car.
