Nice specs but IF PC's go in a glut which is market speculation at the moment might see even better pricing in next 6 months. Notice my complete non-commitment to my statement Wink

Should definitely see better pricing on graphics cards. Some are already close to MSRP and continuing to decline.

Thats true, but even then this is 400 lesser than Dell's labor day price. A big plus for me is the 2 year warranty rather than the standard 1 year.

$500 video card (and dropping). Is the rest plus warranty plus time to build worth $900?

Pass for me.

for Business or regular tasks, these are great! But ... you can get a refurbished one off of ebay (a few sellers) with better specs (I.E. i9-12800K, or i7-700K etc); some with water cooling; some with 750W psu...

Also to note: Dell disables XMP in the bios!
Also, no PCIe5, and some other items that are lacking ...
(they aren't meant for over-clocking for sure)

RAM (DDR5) only goes up to 4400, then goes DOWN from there! (see below)
Table 5. Memory specifications (continued)
Description Values
Maximum memory configuration 128 GB
Minimum memory configuration 8 GB
Memory size per slot 8 GB, 16 GB, 32 GB
Memory configurations supported ● 8 GB, 1 x 8 GB, DDR5, 4400 MHz
● 16 GB, 2 x 8 GB, dual-channel DDR5, 4400 MHz
● 16 GB, 1 x 16 GB, DDR5, 4400 MHz
● 32 GB, 2 x 16 GB, dual-channel DDR5, 4400 MHz
● 64 GB, 4 x 16 GB, dual-channel DDR5, 4000 MHz
● 64 GB, 2 x 32 GB, dual-channel DDR5, 4400 MHz
● 128 GB, 4 x 32 GB, dual-channel DDR5, 3600 MHz

But again, for everyday tasks and general usage, these really are well built. But I'd still go for one of the ebay deals with better specs. For now, I'm still piecing one together that will last me 10+ years, as I tend to keep them that long. (work)

Why do they hide MB data? They want you to buy a new $1500 system in 2 yrs.
I hate proprietary crap.

Surprisingly, despite all these negative comments, this computer absolutely crushes it for daytrading. I run 2 2k 34 inch screens and a smaller 2k screen with thinkorswim, bookmap, and OBS to screen record (both widescreen monitors) while on discord. It didn't break a sweat.

Good to know! I think the negative comments are mostly because the power supply can't be easily upgraded aftermarket. (otherwise I think Dell did a really good job making changes to this from the 8940 last year) So down the road, it could be hard/expensive to change that PSU.

Personally I don't think this is horrible deal, but I do think it should be around 1200 with the way things are dropping in price lately. When you can build for 3-400 less than prebuilt, you start to wonder which way to go. Smilie

I am looking to replace an aging Dell Inspiron 3847 with an I5-4460 to a new XPS 8950 for office work/productivity. I was looking at a new Inspiron 3910 but it sounds like the XPS 8950 is a better built machine correct?

I did notice that the XPS 8950 only has display port 1.4 and no HDMI on the motherboard anymore - I believe the XPS 8940 also has hdmi out on the motherboard. Cost cutting at it's finest I guess, lol.

FYI - This is $1,349 now through 09/25/2022. PSU still isn't great at just under 500W, but it does have 32GB RAM and 3060Ti. I'd say fire on it at $1,249 or maybe $1,299 if it gets there. I think it's still about $100 too high.
