I'm getting the Monolith 16" delivered in about 10 minutes. Super excited about it. So the bass is tight in a ported sub? I need a set of surround speakers to go with it now. Any suggestions?
Take out 3 foam plugs and leave one in. On the back, you'll see a switch — select Extended. That will give you better extension down past 20hz and cut down on boominess.
You could've gotten ported and had more output and lower extension while still maintaining tight articulate bass for music. I have two monolith 16 in ported subs and it's the tightest sounding especially with double bass drum music. Not laggy or boomy just bad ass.
Interesting. So you're getting tight bass out of 16" subs with 4 ports? My Monolith 16 just arrived and I finally got it unboxed. What a beast this thing is.
Thanks. Yes I am aware. I'm probably over thinking it. After all, once they're open and I play something they're "used" at that point anyway. Lol. Used would be a risk with 1 yr warranty, but not so much with 5 yr.
You can look at these as having been broken in for you. Some companies would charge you extra for that.
I got mine new for around $425 each with sales tax, 1 from Best Buy who had them dropped to $450 when the Pro model came out and I had an extra 10% off coupon that miraculously worked. The other was from an ebay coupon for Worldwide Stereo that wasn't supposed to apply to SVS, but it did for awhile until they caught it. If it wasn't for that, personally I'd be okay doing these outlet subs.

"So you're getting tight bass out of 16" subs with 4 ports?"
What's this relationship you're making between subwoofer ports and tight bass?
It's not the buy two deal I'm referring to. It's the 5% loyalty discount that was applied to all prior purchases. In other words, one didn't need to buy two subs to obtain 5% discount in prior sales events. Not a big deal, will just consider competition options more closely.
Lol I completely forgot about that!
So apparently they got rid of that on 7/28 and switched their SoundPoints Loyalty program.
You earn points that can be used towards future purchases.
Apparently the 5% wasn't that big of a deal to me! 🤣

Yes, I have it EQ'd to get a flat response and then added a LSF house curve. Sounds tight and not boomy.
This (outlet) PB-1000 slaps. A bit bigger than I was expecting, but damn does it get low. I try to be a considerate neighbor, so I can't even push it. My Audioengine A5+ speakers sound even better with the lows passed off.
I much prefer my monolith 10 thx subwoofer over my previous SVS SB-2000 and SVS PB-1000. Monolith offers a much better value IMO, however SVS customer service is top tier.
