i agree, finally some decent discount but still very expensive, probably not worth it. you can get wifi 6 mesh for half the price

This product is very niche. The value of these wifi "mesh" systems is in its simplicity to set up so consumers who are the target wouldn't be spending $800 on a wifi system.

The people who are willing to shell out $800 for wifi and then invest in the 2.5gbps backbone to leverage 6E and also have endpoints that are 6E capable and need it typically would be building out their network infra and not buying a mesh system.

It's still going to die in a few years and then you're popping down another grand. Yeah, I'm good.

Asus XT8
I have the XT8 and the firmware is trash. Had to run an older version just to keep it stable. Oh and the top cover of the routers have an adhesive that keeps peeling back from the heat of the router - can't believe I paid $450 for these cheap units. SMH

Asus support has zero solution, not surprised.

I have two ET8 but the network isn't staple as i expect. So i have a dilemma here: either spending another 500 for only one ET12 or spending 500 on other cheaper mesh like Google mesh.

Any suggestions?

I wasted a tonne of time with ASUS aimesh. Switched over to Tplink Omada setup. Seems pretty solid and prices are way more reasonable than this. Though they don't have 6e stuff ready yet.

Google WiFi is 802.11ac. Not a viable solution.

I'm also perplexed as to next steps.

Just got a Netgear RAXE450 from Costco. Basically Netgear's top consumer 6E router.

2.4 & 5 bands are fine. But the 6 Ghz transmit power is super weak compared to the Comcast gateway.

Also, the router takes up a huge amount of shelf space. TP-Link routers are also built out horizontally.

In large part, my draw to ET12 is the verticality in its design.
