  • Three hundred years after the events of the Mistborn trilogy, Scadrial is now on the verge of modernity, with railroads to supplement the canals, electric lighting in the streets and the homes of the wealthy, and the first steel-framed skyscrapers racing for the clouds.
Kelsier, Vin, Elend, Sazed, Spook, and the rest are now part of history - or religion. Yet even as science and technology are reaching new heights, the old magics of Allomancy and Feruchemy continue to play a role in this reborn world. Best entry into the cosmere. New book comes out soon. Protip: download Hoopla and use your local library card and good chance you can get the audiobooks which are excellent. Wayne is the best wingman in the cosmere (except maybe adolin)
First 3 are significantly better IMO.

How kid friendly is this series? I'm looking for good stuff for my early teens son without sex/language/occult/overly mature themes?
My family (12 and up at the time) has read most of Sanderson's books. Loved them all and they are clean.

Great books!

For those unfamiliar, these are part of the Mistborn series, which has an original trilogy (called Era 1) which has a fairly typical fantasy setting (i.e. swordfights and magic). These 3 books are part of Era 2 which is sort of a western setting (revolvers, trains, on the brink of big technological advancements like cars, telegraph, etc). The 4th and final book of Era 2 is set to come out in November.

Era 1 (original trilogy): Mistborn: The Final Empire, The Well of Ascension, The Hero of Ages
Era 2 (Wax and Wayne series): The Alloy of Law, Shadows of Self, The Bands of Mourning, The Lost Metal (November '22 release)

There are also some short stories out there. These are all part of Brandon Sanderson's over-arching fantasy universe called the Cosmere, which includes books and stories from other planets with different magic systems.

Agree, first trilogy was perfect. The sequel trilogy mucked with what was a very tidy little magic system

Is nobody mentioning that these books were coming out free on Tor.com every couple of weeks?
https://www.tor.com/2022/09/13/do...tember-17/

I'm a little annoyed about paying Amazon for things that Tor was handing out for free. And that no one slickdeals was posting these really nice giveaways from an excellent author.
