I got it the other day. The lighting process is a bit of a pain. No internal ignitor. You have yo hold the light knob pressed in for 30 seconds to activate the thermocouple. The thermocouple is touchy, if theres glass blocking the flame it wont stay lit. Other than that it puts out the heat, so its worth the price.

Are these better or the wood burning metal fire pits? I don't really care about heat output but like the ambiance of fire on a fall evening on the back porch.

We also used a converter hose to our RV. Since we are camping no hole in the picnic table. So, my husband used an old planter that had a hole. The hose and connection goes through this and the firepit works great. No problems lighting it, and we did roasted marshmallows in minutes.

I'm considering buying the setup you suggested. It seems in the picture of the table there is no hole from the bottom to hide the cable and connect to the fire pit. Is there a way to set it up without cutting a hole in the table?

This is less mess and work. I have a built in firepit in my patio which I love. This will be nice for ambiance/heat during the winter at the patio table (less effort than dragging my patio heater out of the shed)

You could build a spacer, but it would need a hose adapter have to run over the table at that point or a large box with the propane underneath inside the container, but you'd want it vented. This is the safest way to use it.
